If a game has elfs and dwarfs in addition to humans, why can't it have more fantastical mounts too?

Does Frieren have any defense against someone with a sniper rifle blowing her head off from 700m away?

Frieren is basically a standard powerwank series so it would probably be said that she simply keeps a passive magic barrier up at all times like how she casts magic concealment at all times. Don't think too hard about it, it's like asking if you can snipe Goku.

Honestly, most top-tier magicians rarely have any defenses against snipers. Doctor Strange, Dumbledore, Gandalf, Zatanna, etc. - like 95% of magical characters would be taken out by a bullet to the head.

People like to joke about Harry Potter with guns, but Voldemort actually is immune to them through 99% of the series (it would still slow him down though)

I don't know about Frieren, but some fantasy settings have explained it away as having a passive barrier up at all times or tying magic in to reflexes. That said a lot of magic systems fall apart because you would think they could figure out at some point putting a lot of magic power/force in to a small projectile would be the strongest thing to do in just about any scenario.

I think star wars books did magic the best, force users always see slightly in to the future and almost always just themselves. So that laser blast that hits you in the chest in one second? Just move the light saber to block that spot

>it's like asking if you can snipe Goku.
We know the answer to that, although it depends on the weapon. As a kid, Goku was sniped by a conventional rifle. The bullet hurt him, but still bounced off. As an adult, he was sniped by a laser gun. It went right through him.

Magical surfboard/skateboard/sled
Giant chicken
Friendly Mimic where you sit on the chest and it sprints to your destination
Hang Glider
Ghost Waifu who holds your hand and allows you to fly
Very Large Cannon that launches you across the continent
Grapple Hooks
Friendly Dolphin that lets you hitch a ride and won't lead you to a rape cave
Giant Turtles that do the rounds between a series of villages so you can just chill on its back

Its not explicitly stated in the show but after reading Eragon forever ago, I just assume all magicians/magic users put up some kind of barrier or ward that protects them from a projectile attack. I have never seen any character like this get killed by an arrow or bullet across every show or game I have seen that would break this assumption

It's because he wears a bulletproof suit. This is like that discussion in Game of Thrones, where the little girl is doing gymnastics and saying that some fancy pants fighting style is what makes her idol the best fighter. Then the big guy bends the girl's rapier against his armor and says the guy wins a lot because he has a big sword and thick armor.

frieren gets jobbed by any goon with a sword in melee range. she would have no counter against sneak attacks of any kind. of course she has arbitrary plot armor in her story but without it she's a glass cannon that needs a frontline by her own words.

Correction, she was attacked by a guy with magic string. However, he was an inexperienced retard who left himself wide open and got dismembered by some kind of slicing wind spell. Both Frieren and the guy's own allies called him rash and stupid.

Frieren is powerful, but the whole point of the series is about how she is the long-lived mage from the party of heroes who killed the demon lord like 80 years ago. She is OP as fuck, but the draw of the series isn't the combat. It's in the interpersonal relationships, and how this thousand year old elf hag reconciles her feelings regarding the hero she spent a "mere" ten years with, long after his death.

I imagine you'd be more interested in a child-targeted shounen anime like Naruto, Dragon Ball or My Hero Academia. Something where the spectacle of the fight scenes is more emphasised than the story.

Not the guy you replied to but saying that "the draw of the series isn't the combat" feels like a blatant lie after the show spent considerable amount of time explaining mages, spellcraft, them hiding their actual powerlevels in comparison to demons and actual fucking exam ripped from something like Naruto. Frieren irked me wrong way because it feels like main draw of the story is severely underutilized. I think the series would be good if instead Frieren hanging around same characters for whole series so far the cast would change every few episodes to showcase how passing years feel to her in comparison to her shorter lived companions with only important events really registering in her mind if at all. The series would then progress to showcase multiple parties she traveled with and how much or little things change across years. I don't think music, the way it looks and was animated can carry a wasted premise.

Also teleporting between Mage Guild (so you need a decent or neutral reputation with them to use them)
Also the Dunmer Fortresses (which you need a quest to actually use)
Also the two kind of scrolls that teleport you on the closest temple of one of the two religions.

We have the equivalent of the Japanese Man o' War still looking, moving and running arond like a young girl, and that one was from around WWII, so they clearly live for a long time.

How do you worldbuild when the point of your setting is being the most generic fantasy ever, with the piรจce de rรฉsistance being that you intentionally didn't add anything interesting to it to be a "break from subversion".
I should at least be thankful they left everything arbitrary instead of adding levels and EXP and spell slots and gaymer shit, the mark of modern anime sewage.

How you gonna have a universe about the best race horses in history, and not have Secretariat though?
Also, do only race horses get Isekai'd there, or is it any horse?
Would like to see some regular horses with more normal or goofy backstories reincarnated there, if only for some background world building or references.
Or maybe some war horses being referenced

You donโ€™t. Thatโ€™s kind of the whole grift, innit? They wanted to make something so stripped down and โ€œcomfortingโ€ it loops back to being creatively bankrupt. Itโ€™s the IKEA furniture of storytelling-technically functional, but soulless unless you project something meaningful onto it. And yeah, dodging the gacha UI-laced, status effect-riddled โ€œRPG mechanicsโ€ is a mercy I didnโ€™t expect from a show that screams โ€œ12-year-old power fantasy.โ€ But that still doesnโ€™t excuse why everything feels like it was assembled out of discarded trope DLC.

Shit stories never bother explaining things like this, so the answer is always yes, they could snipe her.

In something like hunter x hunter the people fighting were as durable as normal humans, to fortify themselves they used magic on themselves to form a protective barrier, which means if they caught you without that barrier on they could easily kill you
There was this episode where they caught one of the strongest criminals and sedated him(obviously it wasn't strong enough) and they literally couldn't do anything to him to torture him because he kept the barrier up at all time so they couldn't really hurt him

What i want to say with all of this is that modern anime is garbage
