Friendslop
What is the phenomena with friendslop games the past few years? All I'm seeing and hearing is about Peak now and it just looks like pure liquid friendslop.

They know it'll get popular by streamers and word of mouth.

Anyway, PEAK is a serviceable survival roguelike game. Might be a bit too easy. Made it to the kiln on my first solo attempt.

You make it sound like streamers just happen to stumble on games organically, and not paid directly from the developer team or marketing team, depending on how big the production is.

"friendslop" has already lost all meaning as it is now being used for literally any game with multiplayer co-op.

Friendslop: games with bare-bones mechanics and depth, barely in a playable state on release, targeted to group of friends who are tired of playing LoL, CSGO, or Marvel Rivals. Notable examples are Lethal Company, REPO, Chained Together, etc.

That's a retarded term and whoever uses it is a retard

i thought friendslop was just a funny name for multiplayer games you play 3 or 4 times with your friends until I discovered there are actually a large number of people who are fuming so much over the fact people have fun playing video games with their friends

Game devs realized there is a market for casual co-op games in a world where every multiplayer game is esports dogshit.

only friendless losers hate this genre.

Agreed. I think I heard this term for a first time when this hellhole of a site was down for a few weeks. So as you can imagine, the containment broke loose, and the word friendslop was created.

"friendslop" is the current day couch co-op games you play with friends
>not very hard
>easy to pick up
>short game sessions
>situations to laugh about

you invite friends, play the fucking game for fun and to socialize (because everyone has a job, moved far away, has a family etc.)
nobody expects or needs AAA qualities, polish, deep story or graphics

Sounds like my experience with MMO. The games were always shallow grindy pieces of crap but that didn't matter as long as you had fun hanging out with someone.

I can think of a few reasons:
>competitive games getting a little too competitive
>streamer collabs making it look like fun
>the coof making people hang out remotely
