last tales i played was vesperia remastered and its a huge slog

The pacing is 100% better, Vesperia's story is notorious for being boring.
Content-wise none of the games have more than Vesperia, tho. Xillia has poor content in general, so you'll end the story but have nothing else to do.

Graces F was the last game before the studio merge. The HD Remaster is actually one of the better Tales remasters: nothing was censored and all of the DLC is available other than the licensed JP-only costumes. Those being missing aren't THAT much of a deal-breaker anyway and it's still a solid game in its own right.
Everything starting with Xillia and later is nu-Tales.

A really fun cast and story imo. I played it on pc a few years back, the graphics are ass and the combat feels very dated but I still think the rest of the package carries experience. Yeah. This is odd because he always showed up as the 4th choice no matter what in GC, and the later ports removed the 4th choice so you had to work to get him to rank 3 with the others vying for a spot too.
I'm guessing you didn't play with Lloyd's "mindset" for those in-game choices because Colette would've been undoubtedly 1st place for that.

I think one of the most memorable tales 'twists' is in this game. Not the one you're thinking of, but the one involving the Kresnik spear in xillia 1 and the aftermath. Shit was wild.

If they do to this what they did with Vesperia and do a proper release instead of the slapdash efforts of the Symphonia and Graces releases, and bundle Xillia2 in with it, then baby, we've got a stew going.
I have a feeling this is just going to be low effort shit like everything else Bamco does these days.

If you do win, he realizes he fucked up and follows up with a different plan. Which is far more than I can say when compared to FE:Awakening Lucina potentially killing Chrom in that arena chapter.

Combat aged a bit cause it doesn't have free run, but it's a solid game with a nice story and huge world. If you're ever stuck at a boss fight, you can theoretically always ask a friend to help you too. Can be really fun coop.

Nah you're right, Bamco been coasting hard lately. If this does get the "remaster" treatment it'll probably be Xillia running in 4K with zero QoL improvements and the same old jank UI, and they'll pretend it's a huge deal. I'd love a bundled Xillia 1+2 Definitive-style collection-add skits with full VA, fix the asset pop-in, smooth out some combat transitions-but they'll probably just slap it on Steam and PS5 with a new title screen. Hell, they might not even include the anime OP again like they did with Symphonia.

I played it on RPCS3 last year, and the crazy thing is I remember virtually nothing of the story. Maxwell was an ancient god, until she wasn't, and there was another planet/world invading their world, and then you go to the invader's home world and uhhhh do some shit, idk.

The art style was nice though, reminded me of Berseria. The combat was completely braindead, and I've no idea how Talesfags keep saying this is the best combat in the series, completely delusional.

Zestiria had the whole Baba debacle.
Vesperia had a contract with Microsoft's exclusivity rights and obviously had plans to make a better re-release what with the PA- hat in the lighthouse and several locations missing things or feeling out of place.
Xillia is extremely obvious with how short the game gets after THAT part despite the new discoveries to the world, the lack of cameo battle which is tradition at this point, and a slew of other problems with rushing the story as well.
Arise, I didn't really keep up with but read about the latter portion of the game narratively falling apart.

You're gonna get wildly different opinions on that one cause it does some things very wrong. For example

Some love the battle system for some reason, but it took the first steps away from the multiplayer aspect of the series. Personally I dislike it, but it's still better than what we got afterwards.

Abyss is my favorite Tales but sadly I've only played it once, and that was over 10 years ago. When it was released on 3ds I was really disappointed, because it's one of those games that deserves to be played on a big screen.
