>honestly decently well written, the selling point was the anon provided a load of art for it, making it seem more real, lot of effort put into the tale and the monster

Quality drops off a cliff and ending is awful, but the initial atmosphere was great.

It goes beyond difficult and into poor design territory. No shame in save scumming.
It's one of the only survival horror games I've played where you might actually have to reset if you didn't save up enough ammo and health. On anything harder than normal the fight can take around 40 minutes and you have to do it all over if you make a mistake.

DQXI probably has the most painful decision you'll ever have to make to access more gameplay in the history of gaming. You basically have to say, "Okay, none of this matters, the story doesn't matter, the characters don't matter, nothing makes sense, and I'm an idiot for paying attention to this story and these characters for 80 hours straight", and that's the price you pay to access super bosses and more content.
