GTAs fun is in the open world with the AI, they have to script the missions because if they dont the missions will be too unpredictable and may not even function or be able to be completed.
it is the trade off. Something they will most likely never be able to get rid of.

I will of course be playing it day one.
Will probably grab GTA online for PS5 before that and play it for a month or so to finish off all the newer content before I move on to GTA6.
GTAV online in teh forst 6 months was super fun. I dont expect the same with GTA6 online because V online brought in a lot of cancer to the franchise so they will all migrate to 6 online.
Still the online has so much content and shit to do (now) that I expect most of that to be in GTA6 online from the get go.
As well as the single player world being well made, even if the story, humour and soul of the game is gone.
I just hope all the online shit they release does get put into single player because its annoying as fuck having all this shit only in online for most of us who only really want to play single player.
Fortunately (now) you can in most part play GTAO in single player outside of certain missions and heists.

A “movie game” to me is when you’re just passively following a linear story with little else to do like Uncharted or TLOU. Rockstar games are different because there’s a very immersive open world outside the main story. Long cutscenes and slower controls don’t equal “movie game” if I can still explore freely, use the game’s mechanics outside of scripted encounters, kill NPCs with the weapon of my choice, drive races with the car I want, and do that for hours without the game holding me back.
