Dragon Quest
1, 2, and 3 are perfect on the snes. The GBC version of 3 was pretty good too. I havent played the new version of 3 so I won't comment
4 is better on DS and PS1 (if you can read moon). DS requires getting past the accents though (there's a patch for that)
5 is best on the PS2, but about equal to the original on DS (depends if you like the new waifu and can stand the westernized names)
6 is pretty good on DS but I can't think of any meaningful additions
7 on 3ds is a bit of a sidegrade. The prologue rushes you to the plot and you lose one of the subtler but important messages of the original: before you started your adventure, you were safe
8 on 3DS is a bit of a downgrade. The new party members don't really fit into the combat system's balance, some costumes were censored, the orchestral music from the international PS2 release was replaced with the JP original midi (while in Japan they got the orchestral for the 3DS release), and I don't care for monsters on the map when that syste. was already in use for the monster arena. You can marry Jessica though, so that's pure upgrade

It was good but they didn't add the one thing the old games needed the most: Modern pathfinding.

With an on/off toggle in settings. The excuse was that it would ruin AI in the campaigns but that's invalid since they could still use old pathfinding while the player units would use the new one.

Killing Time Resurrected. The FMVs aren't just barely discernable blobs of pixels, they fixed the movement so you're not constantly getting stuck on walls, and you don't instantly lose height as soon as you jump like you're trying to jump on a giant magnet with iron boots on. Enemy sprites don't look like complete ass anymore either and actually feel like they've got a consistent style

You're delusional if you don't think the original was plagued with fuck tons of problems. The concept of having FMV cutscenes play out in 3D environments was pretty novel but because of the hardware limitations at the time they were all just pixelated messes. Movement was completely fucked in the original as well. If you so much as brushed against a wall you'd come to a dead stop or slow to a snail's pace which was especially annoying given how tight and claustrophobic the levels were. Jumping was fucked. You'd get like a split second of air and then instantly come crashing back down. A lot of the enemy sprites looked horrible too since they were just 3D models with very few if any textures that had been converted into sprites. The clowns especially looked bad. The remaster fixes all that shit.
