I didn't mean the hiring process for assassins, but the process for the clients. I feel that when it comes to super rich folks they just put on a hit and it's done with, but when it comes to people that hired 47 to kill Swing King, who were just a grieving couple, I doubt they just waltzed in, said "Kill this guy" and ICA guys went "Sure". In Blood Money they made a lot of effort to portray your tutorial target as sympathetic. He wasn't exactly innocent, but he wasn't cartoonishly evil like the targets in later games. I also recall that in Blood Money agent 47 kills an innocent messenger. I say I recall, because I'm pretty sure I watched that cutscene only once, and skipped it on all subsequent playthroughs, as I tend to do with all cutscenes. Oh, and he also killed a little birdie without remorse too. Just to cement that he's a psychopath. They undid all of that characterization in Absolution.

He kills a messanger during a cutscene and he's shown to be upset about having to do it, he then kills an innocent journalist and a priest during the last mission, the game ends after that but I think there's a novel where he says that he really regrets having to kill them, especially the priest
Anonymous No.718388728

No, it's a different guy. He brings him a letter in a cutscene, and I think the letter instructs agent 47 to kill the messenger, so he does it. But the journalist and the priest in the last mission didn't really do anything wrong neither, so you could add them to the list as well.

More like 25%.
The only levels where you are forced to a shootout to proceed are the first columbia level, Gunrunner's paradise, and the final level.
Columbia levels as a whole are overblown in infamy, not helped by some actual backwards ass design. 2nd columbia level has no reason to exist since you can just run past the tiger. It's trivial to not kill anybody except the target in the final columbian level. The boss can be easily knife killed if you run behind him during his coke rage animation at the start. NPCs that tell you to fuck off can be ignored. The plane guards that get aggro'd no matter what are still trivial to run past.

That's why he's a psycho. He has a little birdie that he grows a bond with, but then the moment he feels like the birdie could jeopardize his safety, he immediately kills it without a second thought. To be frank, I think the characterization of agent 47 in Blood Money was more appropriate than it was in the games from Hitman (2016) onwards. It feels odd to have it all be so sanitized. It's a game about killing people, and yet it has none of the grit of the previous games. That's not to say the stories in those previous games were good. I think they were frankly bad. But the atmosphere was always great, and that's what suffered because of this sanitization.

The guy is constantly stuck feeling like he's not even real, he clearly knows that if there's an afterlife he's going to Hell and he HOPES he will go there because he's scared shitless that he might not even have a Soul to begin with, yet when he has a choice, when his job doesn't force him to do something, he always chooses to help the people he can help, he saves a priest that he considers his friend, he gives most of his money away to various churches and to the poor, there's clearly a good person in there somewhere, but at the same time he's a professional assassin and he knows that once you start that job you never get out of it

It's somewhat true. But the game punishes you heavily for killing too many non-targets. I think you can fail a mission even if you complete it, if you cause too much carnage. Or something like that, I don't remember exactly, since I played it a long time ago. And even if you do manage to progress, you get less money, which can be very detrimental in the future missions. So this idea of trying your best to be clean was already present, just not executed very well.

Aside from the Blood Money shenanigans, there are also multiple instances where Agent 47 blows something up, killing however many people. For example he blows up a nuclear submarine in Contracts. However, you could argue, that the people he killed there were soldiers, so it's not as bad as killing innocent civilians.

Unless you didn't cap the framerate because all Hitmans before Absolution are broken on high framerate, it is fairly trivial to consistently do stuff in Codename 47 especially with how basic the AI is compared to later games. In terms of complexity of events, the game peaks at the lee hong assassination. The only genuinely asinine level regarding scripting is Plutonium Runs Loose.

Do consider that Contracts and by extension Blood Money were showing 47 during his lowest point in life (at the time), at the end of Silent Assassin he gives up the chance at having a peaceful life because he doesn't feel like he'll ever deserve it, he goes back to work for an Agency that doesn't really care about him after feeling the love of a priest that considered him a brother, he then almost died due to a mistake and even almost got himself caught by the police.

By mid 2010s comic books have fallen out of fashion, especially the gory and sexy ones, so Hitman changed to become more palatable and "upper class" too.

I like to treat Hitman 2 Silent Assassin as the first game where you play as a mysterious retired hitman who is forced back into the business. Contracts serves as both prequel to Hitman 2SA and Blood Money, showing what he did prior to 2SA, and setting up stuff that would get concluded in Blood Money. Him getting shot after Curtains down doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things. 47 could have been shot right after Vintage year and the only thing that would have changed with Contracts is him fighting the Chilean paramilitary instead of the GIGN.

There's a common misconception that psychopaths enjoy killing or being sadistic. No, they just have no inhibitions or empathy of any kind so there's nothing stopping them it's not like it's the only thing they derive joy from they're just like "why not" which is what makes them dangerous. Most psychos aren't cold and calculating, most of them are drug addicts or caused some violent incident. Not every psycho is smart, most regular people are inhibited by emotions not by considering the consequences. The smart psychos that are stealthy and aware of the consequences are stealthy. And no these are not sociopaths, a sociopath and a psychopath is the same thing and there isn't a distinct disorder for each. This is something that movies made up for drama and people will not accept even if you shove a textbook saying so in their face.
47 is not a psychopath, he's suffering from extreme detachment and dissociation probably because of his birth circumstances and upbringing I mean bro is a specially bred clone. He has killed innocent people and will do it if he has no choice or is contracted to but he's not happy about doing that and given the opportunity will go out of his way to avoid killing innocent people or even help them.

Basically the entire World of Assassination Trilogy was released in like 5 different versions, each ones with their different bundles with different DLCs and/or Season Passes, even the Bundles that would include previous games were somehow shit, like, if you already had HITMAN 1 and you wanted to buy HITMAN 3 Bundled with HITMAN 2 you pretty much had to buy HITMAN 1 again, it was all so fucking confused that I'm probably saying something wrong in all of this but that's how confusing the entire situation was at the time

They did it because you're technically not playing Hitman 1 and 2 but their missions in the 3 engine that they added for free to 3 but that's an extremely pedantic distinction nobody but IOI cares about. For some retarded reason TWO missions are omitted from the free update.

TLDR is that you buy "Hitman World of Assassination" and "Hitman 3 Access Pass Hitman 2 Expansion" DLC and you get the entire trilogy and just play that
there is another DLC with some shitty side missions but it's mostly irrelevant and broken so it's better to pretend it doesn't exist

Yeah but the monetization they did was like pennies. You buy Hitman 3 (renamed to WOA) and a $10 DLC to get all three games and they don't nickel n dime you with tons of DLC and MTX. It doesn't really earn them any money it's just confusing as shit.
If they were scummy they'd just make you rebuy Hitman 1 and 2 or individual missions if you want to play them from 3 but they added them for free with a purchase of 3. I think they're just retarded not malicious.

I'd still say it's just them being retarded not greedy.
They released Hitman 1 and then Hitman 2. Then they made a DLC for Hitman 2 for $10. Then they released Hitman 3 in 2022 for $70. A year later they ported all Hitman 1 and 2 levels to Hitman for free in an update. Then they allowed you to purchase Hitman 3 version of the Hitman 2 $10 DLC. So essentially you're just paying for Hitman 3 and the DLC for Hitman 2 and getting Hitman 1 and 2 for free.
It's unnecessarily convoluted and the reason why I think they're retarded and not greedy is because they barely advertise the DLC and you have to go digging on the Steam page to even know what it does and barely anyone bought it.

Are you sure (You) aren't the confused 3rd worlder?
Orthodox and Catholics believe they're the continuation of the original Church to the exclusion of each other and the schism is mostly based on political/historical reasons while Protestants and others are explicitly splinter groups that think the Church has lost its way but accept either of these two (usually Catholicism) as the genuine continuation of the OG Church.
So in a way Catholics/Orthodox are the most Christian Christians if you go by history and that is not disputed by other denominations. What they dispute is that they're not the most Christian Christians going by the spirit of their beliefs and that the organization corrupted their faith. You could say Catholics/Orthodox of today are e.g. a French guy whose ancestors have lived in France for a thousand years but have changed culturally and are much different from their ancestors. Reformation would be the French guy whose parents emigrated to the USA two hundred years ago but practices a culture that he believes is closer to what his the ancestors from a thousand years ago practiced even though it's contrary to what the Frenchmen in France with longer lineage practice in the current day.
The problem with calling Catholics not Christian is the True Scotsman fallacy because you're using arbitrary conditions to consider some a Christian. The opposite isn't true because Catholics have strong historical context to be called Christian. That obviously doesn't mean that Protestants and others aren't true Christians, that'd also be a fallacy.

There is still a lingering psychopath line in there, but it's shown with dark humor. 47 making death puns is one thing, to describe with way too much detail how awesome the house he is selling could conceal a murder is another. I don't think there is a better example than the bank interview you can do, he is 100% blunt about being a murderer and they fucking hire him.

It is true it does not have the same appeal, and to call it sanitized isn't inaccurate, but I feel it has more to do with how 47 is at this stage of his life. In 2016 and 2tm he is fully aware he is the top dog and clearly is starting to enjoy himself a little, by 3TM he starts developing his own personality. I think it's decently done, and the voice acting sells it for me

Good evening, 47. Diana here. I hope you came prepared, because your next target may be your most challenging yet. That's right, it's my vagina, 47. Oh, come off it. You knew this was an inevitability from the start, so don't act so surprised. Now, on to brass tacks. My intel suggests that clitoral stimulation with a smooth, metal implement is quite pleasurable, so that may be of consideration. Alternatively, you may consider using your tongue, as oral stimulation is all the rage, according to one ICA source who shall remain anonymous. Additionally, and since we've all evening to ensure a successful infiltration and rendezvous, it may intrigue you to know that I am currently not wearing any panties. That's right, I too have come prepared for my debut field operative mission. Now, henceforth, all communication must adhere to strict obfuscation so as to minimize any possibility of interception, and thus from this point forward you may refer to me as the code name Mistress. Indeed, I daresay it ought be easy for a chameleon such as yourself to assume the role of "good boy", 47. As per ICA obligations, I have taken the liberty to ensure that my cycle of ovulation will not interfere with this evening's mission, and I am quite happy to inform you that you will not have to "chili dog" it, as it were. Despite preparations, there may be potential obstacles, including a small and thin membrane of skin know as the hymen. According to our files, the hymen is known to be rather susceptible to penetration, but I am sure a man of your caliber will have no trouble procuring an instrument with which to breach its defenses.

The stage is set, 47. Don't disappoint.

nope. 47 is a psychopath, even in the later games. In hitman 2, diana mentions to subject 6 that 47 doesn't feel anything from taking life which is the most defining trait of a psychopath.in hitman 3 epilogue he just goes back to killing people after being freed from ICA - more proof for his psychopathy.
