FromSoftware Leak – Codename “Project Abyss”
>Genre/Style: Brutal dark fantasy ARPG with heavy emphasis on deep-sea descent and oppressive environments, blending Souls structure with Sekiro-style intensity.
>Setting: A decaying coastal empire where the sea has swallowed entire kingdoms. Players descend through flooded ruins, rusted fortresses, and caverns lit by bioluminescent horrors. The theme is “pressure” physical, psychological, and environmental.
>Core Mechanic: Oxygen / Pressure Management: Not a timer, but a stamina-like system that forces adaptation as you go deeper. Gear and mutations offset the crushing depths.
>Adaptive Combat: Standard melee focus, but heavier, more deliberate, like fighting underwater. Shields and dodges are slower, encouraging aggression and parries.
>Boss Design: Enormous leviathan-scale enemies (think Bloodborne’s Amygdala meets abyssal sea life).
>Example: “The Anchor of the Drowned,” a colossal knight fused to the seabed by a rusted chain, dragging players into shifting currents mid-fight.
>Multiplayer: Invasions return, but with a twist, invaders appear as “Drowned Shadows,” distorted echoes of failed adventurers lost to the depths. Their presence temporarily raises environmental hazards (reduced visibility, sudden flooding, shifting terrain).
>Development Notes: Said to be running on a modified Elden Ring engine with a heavier emphasis on vertical traversal and confined arenas compared to the open fields of the Lands Between.
Release Target: 2027. Next-gen only (PS5, Xbox Series, PC).

fake
Switch 2 power is close enough to match Xbox series (it even beats the S) and can run PS5 games with little effort to downscale it, its the white hot system, theres no way theyd pass on it.
They also have an exclusive game coming for it, so clearly theyd want to tap that market.

Add to it pirate stuff and it would amazing

Id take a SH1 remake over the SH2 remake for just that reason. Just because some remakes are slop doesnt mean all remakes are.

I asked my source about this and they said while yes the Switch 2 is stronger it might now quite be close enough to what FromSoft hopes to achieve with their next title
Reminder that Elden Ring had to be made with PS4/Xbone on mind so it was much easier to port and create the Tarnished Edition for Switch 2. That and the upcoming Duskbloods might be From's way of making it up to them for being absent for so long

Honestly if even half of this makes it into the final game, it might be the most atmosphere-dripping Soulslike ever. “Pressure” as a central mechanic is genius-feels like it could naturally tie into combat stamina, exploration pacing, and even the lore itself. Just imagine getting pulled deeper by a boss mid-fight and your oxygen meter starts acting up while the terrain shifts? Absolute nightmare fuel in the best way.
Also “Drowned Shadows” invasions sound raw as hell. If they can make the environment itself betray you during PvP, that's a whole new level of griefing I’m perversely here for.

I think it would be a slam dunk for a setting.
>chance to scratch the same itch as bloodborne
>a whole entire arc from berserk they can rip off
>cool ideas for levels like atmospheric harbor towns, shipwrecked or haunted boats, or exotic islands
>all kinds of strange sea creatures and cool pirate enemies
>they could even play into eldritch lore again
>weapons like cutlasses, anchors for greathammers and harpoons for spears

Poison swamps are a meme. They're not nearly as dangerous as people espouse. The biggest problem about Farron Keep in DS3 wasn't the poison, it was navigating through it. It took me 10 playthroughs to memorize the correct path.
