Oh it's ultra realistic actually.
You can wear sunglasses that apply a disgusting ugly color filter on everythng you look at. Color grading should be used with context not just "because I can and for literally the whole game from start to finish".
This is the same as overuse of bloom, lens flares, lens dirt, chomatic abberation, film grain etc.
For example in Dark Souls 1 you get a different color filter depending on area, actually smart usage of this art tool.
