Why doesn't Sega hire me to create the story and script for Sonic Adventure 3? I know the characters as they're supposed to be, instead of how I want them to be portrayed. Which is retarded, because we essentially got three Yakuza Kiwami-makes, 2-3 different Persona 3 and 4 remasters/remakes, and Battle/DX were remasters too.
That said, they are missing out on cashing in on great game premises, stories and mechanics that could benefit from modern day polish/QoL improvements.

1.) SEGA is 100% obsessed with the idea that Sonic must go fast and all Sonic gameplay must be Sonic going fast.
2.) The comics have material that doesn't involve Sonic going fast.
3.) In the mid-90's the STI guys put together a short demonstration video of a concept for a Sonic game based off of SatAM/Archie Sonic, and because it was a demo video made on Amiga, Sonic didn't go fast. The JP Sonic team promptly shut it down.
4.) Due to 1-3, Sonic team has no desire to even attempt to make any games based on any western Sonic media or give westerners the chance to do so.

I would still assume a remaster job in that sense is even more plausible, because you're just recreating already realized assets and levels. Only things that 'suck' about SA1 and SA2 combined is how antiquated the analog control is + how collision works. SA1-Heroes remade with modern sensibilities in the context of improvements to controls would be novel. The only monkey's paw is how they handle Rouge, or the general artstyle and lighting.

Because the set-up of the comics wouldn't allow for good gameplay, and any game set in a world meant to emulate the feeling of being in the world of the comics would require an OC generator, which automatically makes it look like shit.
