Xenosaga flopped and Namco ousted the writer by the third game. The lead writer was MonolithSoft CEO's wife who Namco forced out by the third game. It was originally planned to be 6 games. How in the world you regard Saga in such high regard when anyone who played it feels a disconnect with how Xenosaga 3 rushed certain character arcs, like even retconning Kevin as a Testament who planned out KOSMOS stabbing him to set the series forward. KOSMOS and chaos were underutilized and have unfinished arcs.

Xenoblade 2 is slop, nothing I liked about 1 was present so I skipped the third game too. The blade system makes every character feel the same outside of the role they are, and the characters are nowhere near as memorable. Even if there wasn't an obscene amount of embarrassing anime bullshit I still wouldn't have bought 3 because the combat and party building felt like shit in 2. Xenosaga 2 was handed off to a namco internal team to finish development while the main team began work on XS3. The Namco devteam of XS2 decided to make massive changes to the story. Saga quit videogame development in response, and takahashi delayed XS3 anyway to make the DS game xenosaga I&II that covers the actual events of the canonical XS2 prior to XS3.
