It's amazing how every "review"/shill video in Youtube is some guy going on for 20 minutes about how most of the game is a straight line that barely makes use of the new platforming gimick, but "It's Mario Kart so it's an automatic 8 out of 10".

Mario Kart World is probably the most fun I've ever had online with a Mario Kart game. Every race something different happens instead of just racing around the same tracks over and over. You're always near first so you never see any of the other items. In World it's just pure chaos where one moment you're in first , then the next you're in 18th, then you're back in first. It's so much fun.

This. World feels lacking in content compared to 8D. Granted, 8D had nearly a decade worth of updates. Had 8 remained as it was at launch, I believe World would be the better game.

The new animation and personification on the Karts in World is somewhat endearing, but spamming jump for particle VFX is lame.
They should have done MK:DS style minigames and bosses

world is so bad i went back to wii. No straight lines, bullshit items, bagging in every map, just frontrunning 3 lap kino.

I'm not a huge MK fan, but World is really sterile and has some absolutely insane choices.

A large number of the maps are boring real worldesque places when I want fantasy shit. I also hate how wide some courses. There are points where it's so wide that I get confused which direction I'm supposed to be travelling.
Who the FUCK thought the character select screen where you have to scroll through 90 screens was appropriate? They clearly have the 90s technology of submenus because you could choose individual colors of shy guys and Yoshi in 8. The RNG shit for the mook characters is some of the worst shit I've ever seen in a game. You're lucky if you get Kamek'd a single time every couple of grand prixs, and you have overwhelming odds that it's a fucking duplicate.
