I saw someone figure this out early on in a stream and have been doing it myself since. It's why I'm not really bothered by the patch removing the civilians you can kill, since despite them not really attacking you they still count as enemies which then prevents your stamina bar from recharging while sprinting, and you want to be sprinting all the time and dash-spamming when you have the stamina for it.

Despair is an instant kill status effect like Deathblight from Elden Ring. You can either equip gear that has higher Despair resistance, though my latest strat has been to use Fixed Origin Pills every time I see a despair priest. The resistance boost they give is really high, to the point I've never had to switch gear since I started using them, and you can get them from invoking madness at shrines, meaning every time you kill an inner demon you can head back to a shrine and get 10+ of the pills.

Nah, they weren't and for me they were just annoying due to the aforementioned stamina issue. In particular I remember the ones on the Ming General runback made that one maybe 10-20% longer due to having to walk while your stamina recharged. I've heard some people don't like it because they used them as batteries for Skyborn Might prior to boss fights.

Anybody here that has finished the game, did anyone skip speaking with Fang Yao after beating the Perfect Bride boss and have her appear in the next chapter and onwards to still get the good endings?

Just out of curiousity I've been checking the minimum amount you have to do to avoid being jarred. So far I've found you only need to do Fang Yao's quest in Chapter 2 and then get the rings from her and He Youzai at the end of chapter 4. Now I'm just wondering if you can skip any of the chapter 2 stuff. I know you obviously can't skip the first interaction, and I imagine you can't skip the 2nd one. Not sure about the 3rd though.

It must have been an immergancy censorship, since a lot of things like Ming enemies being allied with you makes the game outright busted in areas.

They also removed Sign of the Cross emote. Which makes even less sense to me. On one hand, you never get to see christian thematic in a game like that. Not western, not Japanese. To have it there was surprising, to have it removed is just weird.

I've definitely been blocked in DS3 and ER, though maybe not by human sized enemies. Like you said though, this is clearly a bug when they pushed this patch out quickly. They've already said they're going to change the animations and stuff for the bosses that survive now later on so I imagine this will be fixed then.

You're supposed to dash through attacks in this game. Circle around her towards her non-sword side for easier dodge timing. Light attacks are shit against bosses, use them only for feather generation or small pokes between combos, focus primarily on strong attacking their back instead. Honglan uses the wide arc horizontal projectile even from close range so you can bait her into doing that to get behind her.

And yes, even despite her AI and stagger treshold nerfs she's still the #1 bullshit boss in the game especially when you're still ill-equipped so early on in the game. Bosses after her are way easier. For some reason both this game and Lies of P has the hardest boss of the game in the early 1/3rds of the game. Maybe its an intentional reference to Ornstein and Smough or the devs just can't pace their games for shit.

Do a comparison where you strong attack her from the front. Also keep an eye on her yellow stagger circle and you'll notice the difference. It was probably just a bug because all the bosses in Chapter 2 after her respect the stagger rules even in 1.0. Even Liu although technically he's a "giant boss".

Ignoring the censorship its an overall decent soulsslop game with some AA jank in the mix, mostly on performance. Enemy variety is a bit low and combined with only a handful of weapons the game feels longer than it really is. As AA soulsclones go Lies of P is better gameplay-wise but Wuchangs boob outfits and story is more interesting. Lies of P story is just pure goofy shlock.

Not ignoring the censorship I advice people to wait for a sale or just pirate the game for now because if they censored the game now, they're going to censor it again in the future. That Iron Pineapple video exactly shows how Honglan doesn't give a shit about the Charge attack stagger like every other humanoid boss in the game in earlier version. Iron Pineapple ends up relying on Clash instead. Because the stagger cancels combos. You can press RT with an axe straight to Boob Hags face and interrupt her big homing ball spell completely. Strong attacking the back is always better but extra stagger is always more extra breathing room.

My only real issue with the game is that i don't like any of the movesets. Only the magic is super fun.

Axe has possibly the most functional and normal moveset of them all, it's just not very interesting.

Honglan is one of the few bosses where most of her moves stagger her when she's parried. It feels like they specifically designed her to be a sword duel instead of backstab spam. For most human enemies after her, I found that the reverse was true, and that dodging and punishing is better than trying to parry. For example, the Ming general's throat slice move seemed perfectly timed to punish you if you were in the middle of the second follow up attack after a parry. He became much easier when I started dodging more and parrying less.

For a game that focuses a lot on quality of life, they really need to implement bonfire ascetics. What if all I want to do is spend a few hours fighting the same boss with different weapons and styles?

Can you go all the way to before the chapter 5 final boss and then beat bo magus for the bo ending or is that a chapter 4 only ending?

I also got it popped by one 'laser' blast from last boss.
