ToA is a boring piece of shit whose combat ends up being worse than just prrssing attack like in FF7 due to how braindead easy it is but it still takes longer than pressing attack and doing aoe magic once or twice per battle.

I thought it was slow and boring as hell up until I got to the Rat city and then it picked up there for me and is now my favorite FF.
It has the best setting, best characters, best theme, best art style best music, but the gameplay is kind of ass.
I played 7 up to the snow area and got so fucking bored of it I haven't picked it back up yet
