Dont forget that december is a bigger part of autumn than winter is.

NC here. autumn doesn't mean fucking shit unfortunately. it'll still be hot and rainy as fuck all the way into the end of october most likely. i don't even mean that as in "i live in a hot place so it's cold less of the year" i mean "i live somewhere that's supposed to be temperate but it's actually like a random number generator what the weather will be like that day"

fucking. miserable. i'd honestly rather live in florida or some shit. i'd be dealing with the same amount of heat, humidity, insects, and shitskins - but at least i'd have a beach to go to

>NC here

What do you think of the mountains. I'm thinking about moving to Asheville which is a lot cooler than here in Orlando

>non stop rain
>depressing grey skies
>constant puddles and mud making it hard to walk to places
eat shit, when I was a kid I liked summer but now I hate every season
>spring
has too much allergy triggering bullshit even if you are not explicitly allergic to something
>summer
is retardedly hot now
>autumn
is gay as fuck with depressing gray skies and mud everywhere
>winter
is now autumn 2, we get depressing grey skies and mud everywhere without getting the kino snow coat covering everything as it barely snows now

asheville and by extension most mountain towns in NC are frankly a fucking nightmare. asheville especially has this weird dichotomy where half the people are upper echelon trust fund kids in their fake-hippie bullshit phase, and the other half are literal dirt poor white trash that live in shacks and shop exclusively at dollar store and walmart

there's pretty much nothing but shitty boutiques, smoke shops, fast food places, and other similar places to scam college kids out of money - and then the run down hovel-people stores where they shop because they have to.

so unless you're one of those kinds of "people" don't expect to make many friends. just parking in the "wrong" area or going down the "wrong" road around here will literally have shit eating hicks coming outside and driving up to you on an atv with some faggy hunting rifle stuck to the front of it asking you what you're doing "around here" - it's a truly miserable place full of paranoid, greedy, rude, retarded faggots

there's also still a surprising amount of niggers which is kind of the theme anywhere you go in NC

but all in all if you've got the money to actually live somewhere decent in or near asheville and you'd prefer a more "temperate" climate then it's not too bad. asheville would definitely be a lot colder on average but you're still 100% guaranteed to experience dogshit NC summers up there with endless heat and weird cycles of untenable heat followed by sudden cold snaps

Thanks. I'm budgeting $600-$700k for a home, so that should put me in a decent area. I'd prefer Minnesota or Maine, but their state income tax is double North Carolina's and their property taxes are significantly higher too. I'm going from no state income tax here in Florida with my (modest) house being paid off to having a mortgage and state income taxes which is annoying, but doable.

then why even leave? NC has many other shit laws compared to florida, i'm sure. and depending on the area you pick around here even a million almost isn't a pot to piss in. our state is well and truly fucked. if you do move just make sure your job is stable and you have enough savings because the mortgage + all the new taxes is probably going to be rougher than you think financially speaking
