>and from what other's have said, the tribute 64's stick is shit
There were two variants. The one with the Dpad in the center and the V2 with the dpad closer to the stick. The V2 is vastly better when it comes to stick range and deadzones, but it's physically a different stick compared to OEM, so you're not gonna get the exact same ranges due to the fact that all the corners of the stick gate for GC style sticks are equidistant, whereas the OEM stick gate had slightly closer diagonals. For most games it's no biggie, for example in Mario 64 you can have mario tiptoe, slow walk, jog, and run at the appropriate percentage the stick is pushed, but in games that have a reticule in the middle of the screen or FPS games the diagonals feel like they they're a little bit more sensitive because the game doesn't have an outer deadzone programed. It's not too bad for sin and punishment or Star Fox, but for Golden Eye and Perfect Black it's noticeable enough that you'd want to use a variant control scheme instead.
TLDR: if you want 1:1 perfect compatibility for the entire n64 library, then you have to use an OEM style stick, otherwhise the Tribute 64 has one of the best gamecube style sticks for roughly 95% of the games people care about.
