I've been playing the original lately. What's been working for me is running with 2x Alchemists, 1x Medic, 1x Protector, and 1x Landsknecht. You'll for sure want a healer. Also, make sure to bring a Warp Wire on each expedition.

Actually, 2 is the most fucked in terms of class balance, so you can't get away with much experementation unless you know what you're doing with the classes.

war magus is a very good healer since war might is an absolutely massive buff to help with damage dealing when not needing to heal.

The Guilds are kind of like startups, if they can get better maps than other adventurers it gives them a big leg up in resource harvesting.

The government wants maps for its own purposes but it's not like they're making them publicly available for everyone. They're probably comparing the maps of a lot of different guilds and trying to stay up to date because in-universe the labyrinth changes over time even though it's pretty static in the games we play.

But annoying people of all kinds of ideologies would make it political and bitch endlessly if there was an africa coded setting.
But you could have civilizations from all over the world travel to there "colonialism" style, but instead of conquering the land it's to explore and grab treasures and resources from the dungeons.

you grab some of it just because actually maxing a spell makes it cost too much but damage wise maxing a spell is better.
The scaling is absolutely retarded. The level two spells even use the exact same retarded damage formula but with an added 1.5 multiplier on the final damage so you're better off leveling one of the first spells to 10 instead.

What was the first stratum in 5? It had that giant elephant, it seemed vaguely Africa to me.
