Its popularity only exploded in Japan, apparently due to some collab between vtubers and pros. Take Japan out of the equation and the numbers between the two franchises are quite similar to that what they were during SFV.

Well people like me did not like SFV so I went over to T7. But now people do not like T8 so they're going over to SFVI. And in general SFVI made a lot of smart decisions to get casuals to play and eventually get addicted.

Kekken8 is just DOA7 with no Tekken fundimentals.
no spacing, no pokes, no frame setups, no real mind game going on.
Just endless mid/low mashing with meter specials to make the casino more random,
and stage gimmicks to make the combos long as hell so you only have to guess once or twice to finish the round.
Basically this game does not feel like I'm playing Tekken.
