keyboard/mouse + steering wheel is all you need for games, everything else is retarded theres a reason why aim botting is so damn high on controller

Far too many buttons.

If it requires more than this, then it isn't a video game.

I prefer the stick placement of playstation controllers but correct, I don't. In fact I've reached the point I will no longer by any consoles or controllers that don't include hall effect sticks. I'm so sick of this Jewish stick drift grift I'm just checking the fuck out of consoles until shit is unfucked.

Controllers are so bad for playing games that they have to have games play themselves.
See:

I genuinely don't remember the last time I used a controller. There isn't a single genre controllers are the 'best' at. Everything is better with keyboard and mouse, and you're right, wheels are better than controllers for gaming. Controllers are compromised input designed for portability.

Flickstick is legitimately faster than mouse. Almost nothing supports it though.

All games designed around the limitations of controllers are worse. I agree. The downgrade from Call of Duty 1 to Call of Duty 2 signalled the fall.

why would i want to resolder new sticks onto an existing controller instead of just buying a controller that already has them

3D platformers.
WASD or arrow keys are ASS for controlling a character in 3D space. Really, anything that requires moving a character with more than 8 statically strong directions of input is superior with a analog stick.
Perfect controller setup for just about everything is a Wii Nunchuck with a few extra buttons and one of those mice with a shit-ton of buttons on it (pic related).

>3D platformers.
This is only true because they are typically designed for controllers and have fixed cameras. 3D platformers when you can control the POV work better on keyboard and mouse than controllers.

Analog movement has no real-world value. The additional movement vectors and speeds confers no advantage. If it did, people playing competitive FPS would be using analog movement which they aren't.

That's still not "Everything is better with keyboard and mouse" then is it?
If you're only dictating "Character go forward" with W or , and you're steering the character with the mouse alongside controlling the camera simultaneously, sure. But that makes for a incredibly boring gameplay experience from a input mechanics standpoint. Something like a Mario 64 or a Pseudoregalia have movement systems that are entirely relevant on having very precise control of how the character moves around to play them with any amount gameplay depth.

>If it did, people playing competitive FPS would be using analog movement which they aren't.
They do, it's just you steer with the camera (and thus, mouse) instead of a separate dedicated input. Which is fine, those games aren't focused on complicated movement in nearly the same way the aforementioned 3D platformers are, which are ALL about complicated movement in 3D space.

There's supposed to be a arrow at "with W or (up arrow), and", for fuck sake.

>That's still not "Everything is better with keyboard and mouse" then is it?
Yeah it is. Because whenever you hack in full keyboard and mouse support the game ends up better better than playing with a controller.
>Something like a Mario 64
Would work better than controller if you had complete control of the POV with the mouse.

Hall effect sticks and backpaddles should be mandatory in current year. All three console companies put out complete dogshit for controllers and they do it on purpose.

Ok retard. Lets see some gameplay of Mario 64 with optimised KB+M control and come back to me refusing to acknowledge the movement, and thus gameplay, is soulless now.

Basically any game with camera controls. Dual analog is a bad control scheme.
>>718442241
>muh aiming
Also muh movement (relative to the camera) and muh interaction (dual analog popularized interacting with things by hovering next to them and hoping that context sensitivity would let you interact with the right thing eventually).
>>718442810
>WASD or arrow keys are ASS for controlling a character in 3D space. Really, anything that requires moving a character with more than 8 statically strong directions of input is superior with a analog stick.
WASD + Mouse lets you move the character in any direction you want, the only problem is when a game has wonky controller-oriented camera controls.
>>718443219
FPS players use analog movement, because the camera movement is actually catering to mouse and keyboard.
>>718444743
Backpaddles are only necessary due to how bad dual analog is as a control scheme.
Just stop pretending that console controllers are omnipurpose devices that are good at everything, that's just console wars shit.
If we're arguing about what modern controllers should be capable of, then split controllers with tracking systems for VR are superior anyway.
