Why is this game so fucking stressful?
>spend all day running around healing and immunizing people
>minmax trading while running from one errand to the other
>stockpile food and clean water wherever possible
>try to optimize pathing between quests and errands
>nighttime comes
>people still die left and right, people get infected
>barely scraping by and barely managing to stay alive
Anonymous No.718448513 >>718456158 >>718457552
I dunno. I'm stuck in a loop of starvation and being only one hit away from dying, and the fucking muggers at night always get me. I have no idea what I'm doing when I play doctor either.

During a crisis you can only make bad choices.
That's from the Changeling route.

Stressful?
It's peak comfy once you get the routine down and you walk over the town and watch it decay
>doing the rounds, completing quests while looking through trash cans and refilling water bottles
>visiting the bar to barter away excess herbs
>bartering with kids for food
>cutting open any corpse you find
>trading water bottles for bandages
>healing sick people at the hospital
>visiting your adopted children and Lara
>ignoring all the requests for help from the Bachelor's Bound
>talking long walks in the steppe listening for the voices of the herbs
>coming back to your abandoned factory base to brew some medicine, talk to your bull and crash out for the night
>smiling as Anna gets infected and eventually dies

Trying to keep the characters I liked the best from dying when multiple got infected at once was genuinely more impactful than all of the scripted drama in all of the AAA movie games with a ham-fisted orchestral soundtrack ever made.

Everyone who's played this game has a different hustle.
Mine was trading medicine for pemmican.

true, but anyone who played without comfy night-time herb gathering played the game wrong

Anyone who survived the week played the game right in my opinion.

Are there any story/difficulty mods for this game? I'd like to play it again but it'd be good to mix things up a little

Just play the Bachelor route.
You unlocked it by hugging Lara, right?

>>718454243
I actually did complete the game with hugging Lara, it took a few tries. Good suggestion though, it was a fun bonus challenge

Will playing Pathologic 1 first make 2 more enjoyable

Because you are fighting to save thousands of lives, why wouldn't it be stressfull? Are you filtered or what?

1 would add a lot of context and make you enjoy a bunch of moments more, but 2 is a far better game in almost every single aspect while 1 is more of an experimental game made by a bunch of drunk russians who had barely played any videogames in their entire life.

Yes, even if Pathologic 2 is a better game for the most part.
Also, the music in 1 is immaculate.

Because it's intended to be stressful

Tbh the game wasn't that hard once you understood how to trade, children are way too broken and doing hospital tasks gives you enough to survive for a decent time, I only got shafted on the task where you have to stay in the hospital for an extra hour to get the reward. My run pretty lucky all things considered, only came with 4 casualties with all kids surviving, and the only guy I wanted to save that died was Vlad Jr.
Anonymous No.718455878 >>718456216
Because Pathologic gameplay is based on making the player feel tension. The Void has the same gameplay design.
One of the Pathologic protagonists' best choice was to just sleep all day in between doing the bare necessities of that day. now that's a real depression simulator.

hearing that rat fuck complain that the rot is growing or whatever hits different after you've died multiple times within 3 minutes of each other

Which one?
I'm guessing the Bachelor because the Haruspex needs to complete the panacea quest before a certain day and the Changeling needs to do the same side quest every day to prevent the entire map from turning into a quarantine zone.

Combine the herbs with water in the first machine to make the tinctures which will tell you what sort of medicine they need.
Combine infected organs with the tinctures you made in the first machine to make medicine, but only the right kind of medicine will save them. You can savescum this part, weirdly, given how hard they went on not letting you savescum death

i gave this shit an honest try and came to the conclusion that the people who made this and the people who shill this are art-house slop enjoyers.
Gameplay is objectively bad and the story is non coherent, heavily relying on vague images because the authors are shit at writing, which is typical for their pretentious types. Iirc it failed in sales which is a good thing.

If you play on the easiest settings, it's actually pretty fun. Unironically feels like you know your shit as a healer and have a chance to keep the town alive in spite of everything. It strangely almost turns into a power trip. I'd recommend it.

you are welcome faggot.
playing this game is the equivalent of smoking weed and watching something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BVqksYJ2yw
imagining yourself a genius
i wont be surprised if the authors are drug addicts too, which is almost always the case in the """art""" circles.

If you like starting over again because you fucked yourself by making some mistakes early on, you can give it a go.
I can only advise you to not spend every bit of color you find early.

For my most recent game I mostly just had a specific town square where I'd kill muggers right outside Var's place. I was completely hated there but loved everywhere else and the cashflow was great

Described by its developers as a "stress simulator".
