Halsin wasn't meant to be a party member. During the early access period, players latched onto him hard and wanted him as a party member, so Larian gave into what they wanted and canceled development of the halfing bard werewolf.

(A halfing who (according to what leaked dialogue we have from her) had connections to Shar somehow so she would have tied into Shadowheart's whole deal and fit into things way better than Halsin does post-his questline.)

I knew her facial model was familiar. They ended up using it for a Shadow Druid in Kagha's storyline. You can chalk up the tattoos and dreads to her class and culture but I can imagine Larian spicing up the original, obviously placeholder model in a similar fashion.

The funniest thing about Halsin is how much he changes once he becomes a party member.
Like Act 1, which is where people started loving him, he was this cool wise druid who turns into a bear to maul gobbo children, very neat and I can understand why people want him around.
But in Act 2 once he becomes a party member he's suddenly a fucking horny sexpest who will come onto you and try to get you and your romance into a threesome, dude became a fucking weirdo.

Everybody should do a Durge run at least once. Being Evil (and potentially going full degenerate) complements it well and Minthara as a permanent companion and romance option is a flawless fit. Take Lae'zel and Astarion if you want to round out the party with comps who won't bitch about your decisions.
