having player character dialog actually be spoken is simply a better more immersive system and people were way too autistic about it so we probably will never see it again in a bethesda game. having the camera move and cut cinematically while you have a real dialog with a character is so much better than the locked first person, one sided conversations. it should at least be an option you can toggle on and off.

How is it immersive if your character speaks? It's someone else's voice and not yours.

In Bethesda games I do, because in Bethesda games (and other similar games), I create a blank slate of a character. I create his looks, give him a name, and choose his traits and skills. So, yes, I prefer if the character is silent. But in a game like The Witcher, I prefer the protagonist to be voiced, because I don't get to choose virtually anything regarding Geralt.

That's not true, actually. You chose to play Witcher 3, and that means you approve of the character you're playing as. I'm guessing you haven't played BG3, but even if you pick a pre-made character, it isn't voiced. I think that's a good thing.

No, I make choices that I think Geralt would make knowing who Geralt is. I don't pretend to be Geralt in my mind while I do pretend to be my guy in Bethesda games.

Voiced dialouge means that dialouge will be simplified and you will have less choices and options. It's only ever been a negative in any WRPG franchise that historically had good dialouge choices. Like CRPGs. Even older Bethesda games did it better.

The devs give people a choice because not everyone agrees on right and wrong. It's kind of sad that you don't understand. It's like a game has a choice between
>save character A
>save character B
99% of people playing (except you, apparently) will pick the character that they like more. You pick the character that you think the protagonist likes more. Sorry if you can't see how absurd that is.

>If you have a voiced protagonist then you should just not have dialogue options.

Yeah, absolutely. I played The Last of Us, and I was fine with it, because you're playing as Joel. When you play something like The Witcher, you have people (there's a guy in this very thread) who can't even understand why there are dialogue options. That only happens because the character is voiced, and he knows he's playing someone else.

Only if you’re a casual that can’t roleplay. I mean imagine being so incapable of abstraction that you can’t imagine what you own character someone that you created sounds like. You basically think of everything from where they were born to what they look like yet their voice a fundamental part of who they are is completely lost to you. That’s just retarded.

The problem is that it doesn't work with Bethesda's style of the everyman self-insert. Too much dialogue for the voice actor to record, and even if they could it would never fit into the mental image everyone has of their own, personal character. Voice acting works in rpgs with a character that have an actual personality and a background, like the Witcher or Mass Effect, but in Bethesda games it clashes with how the game is set up. They half-assed it in Fallout 4 too with the soldier background for nate and lawyer for nora, but it's ultimately inconsequential to the game because they were too afraid of making something set in stone for the character. Voices don't mix with blank slates. You can have one or the other, but not both.

You dumb fucking scum sucking nigger faggot. It's not. The point of an RPG is playing the character you want to play and making the choices that THEY would make. Otherwise nobody would ever nuke Megaton or enslave kids for Eulogy Jones. Only the most boring, normal faggots that have ever touched a fucking game play as themselves, making a character that looks like them and making the choices that they would make if they were transported into that world. Normalfags are completely incapable of separating themselves from their character's actions and need to overlap real world issues in a fantasy one.
That is why we get those people demonising someone irl for daring to do a legion run in NV, dying on the hill that DA's Templars are bad and unneeded when literally everything bad in the setting was caused by elves, mages and elven mages or treat ME Krogan as poor dindus when the genophage was executed by the Salarians to stop the genocide of the Turians without needing to resort to genocide themselves.

none of this shit is even as good as the talking heads were in fallout fucking one, it wound up taking something that is inherently disruptive, pausing the game to engage in arbitrary conversation, and made it immersive with a charming UI and expressive, emotive NPC faces that were purposefully more detailed than the game's standard visuals

meanwhile, in Bethesda games, you just stand around like an asshole right in front of whoever you're talking to, and the whole world either freezes around you, or it doesn't and ignores what you're doing, either way it looks and feels like shit
