New Order is decent, if very overrated. Old Blood is maybe the best thing with anything "Wolfenstein" written on it.

But this? This is the devs getting high off their own supply and all it feels like is an expansion pack to the first game. No new weapons? Seriously? I'm not even sure if it has new enemies either.

How did they manage to make everyone so unlikable? Even BJ comes off terrible here with his constant moping.

Setting the game in America was a big mistake too, losing all the interesting architecture for generic ruin.

The only positive I can remember from playing it is that it ran like fucking butter. That's about it. It killed any enthusiasm I had left for the series. Trump Derangement Syndrome was also in full effect around the time the game was released which didn't help either. The marketing was extremely cringe. Then,

Relevant repost: Even in today’s hyperpolitical climate, Nu-Wolfenstein would still make bank if a new game was genuinely good and made by sane, normal people.

They don't even take advantage of the American setting since the whole game takes place in dingy underground corridors or forgettable rubble. I can instantly recall most chapters of New Order and Old Blood, and maybe 2 or 3 of New Colossus on a good day.

Ah I knew I wasn't crazy. Old Blood has such a unique look to it. You just can't leave the WW2 setting totally behind.

Unironically the only memorable setpiece/area is the 50's style America town due to modern day America being a hellscape compared to the clean occupation that's depicted in game.

Also going to Venus isn't at all treated like a big deal which I thought going to the moon in TNO was treated like one.

There were clearly major issues during development and over half of the game is missing.
Also I never got used to the dual-wielding mechanic. Constantly started dual-wielding by accident and then had trouble putting the other weapon away. It was so clunky I never did it on purpose.

Dual auto shotties are hallway erasers.

Dual stgs with armor piercing/fast reloads are the go to for robots.

Why would I want to kill Nazis? They can make the game as gay as they want for all I care.

I enjoyed TNO's different settings and weapons more, TOB's guns felt kinda lame.
However, TOB was an actual Wolfenstein game and, more importantly, it had actual bosses.

Things outside the gameplay in the first game weren't great either. BJ was in constant situations where he should have been dead, no muscle atrophy after being a vegetable for years, etc. The signs were there.
