Don't quote me on this but a little birdy told me that Deadlock isn't just going to be Dota TPS anymore. Valve as been seeing more and more potential in the IP than they initially expected when it first started out as a give me pet project for Icefrog.

The current plans are to turn it into a weird mix of Dota and TF2's sensibilities.
The main MOBA mode will act as the hypercompetitive area they'll use to hook in the
But the hero shooter expact will expand and be more flexible to hook the casual market.

A big part of this is they realize that the competitive hero shooter market has yet to be tapped ever since Overwatch shat the bed with it. Valorant is more of a Counter Strike clone so it doesn't count apparently.

I desperately hope this is true. Personally, I play vidya to relax and chill out, mobas are the anthesis of this. You gotta sit down and play at 110% and hyper-focus for like 30 minutes. This gameplay can be fun when your feeling it, but I get tired of it quick and need to take breaks. A casual mode wound be fucking amazing, I could easily put thousands of hours into it. The characters are really fun to play and the overall setting of the game is stellar. It makes sense for Value to do more than just a MOBA.
