Hiding from what? The only monster who truly wanted to bring a human to Asgore was Undyne. I can't imagine the huge ruckus that would ensue if all the friends Clover made along the way found out that Asgore wanted to kill him.

People often argue Chara and Clover are written out of character.

I find it hard to judge. Chara has so many interperations it's silly. Clover meanwhile is still largely a sillent protagonist.
