I bought the XSeX because of all the backwards compatible games and for cross buy/play on a few titles with PC and don't regret it but I definitely haven't used it as much as I'd like to say I have. I also wish xbox threw their weight around enough to clear up licensing issues and make more OG xbox games backwards compatible. They've done every game that doesn't have a license issue but it's not enough. Lost media still exists.

Infinite actually had potential to be a good game but 343 fell for the live service meme. I just bought an Xbox Series X and have been playing it almost every day for the past 4-5 months. If Xbox doesn't have a next-gen console, then I'll just fucking buy a Playstation 6 and move on with my life. I've personally been loving the XSX over the PS5, but I have no quarrels getting a PS6 if it comes down to it.

If Xbox did do a next-gen console then I might go with them over PlayStation, but then again Xbox has been "dying" according to the internet, for the past 6-7 years now. I actually don't think him buying a Series S is a bad call. Switch 2 isn't going to be picking up older Xbox games worth a damn, and if he doesn't care for any online whatsoever, he can Developer Mode it and turn it into a rather capable emulation station anyway. The Switch 2 is heavily relying on third-party sales picking up in the coming years because that shit isn't going well right now, and is largely contemporary titles with a backcatalog of Switch 1, but if the anon already has Switch 1, it serves little purpose to get a Switch 2 as is.
