As a VN, it has bad writing.

As a detective game, it's extremely linear and railroaded. All you do is inspect objects and sit through conversations while the game plays itself. It even blatantly signposts the answers in every case.

its fun, has a strong art direction, and the music is fucking hype

that's really all it takes. music and art can carry an entire game. its also why the series has totally fallen off/died - big downturn in music quality + art moved to 3d so looks ugly now

Good music, amusing animations, it's basically like watching a cartoon with mild puzzle solving anon. I don't even know if I'd want AA to have more difficult puzzles or cases since a large part of the enjoyment is just chilling while playing
