At least Warhammer 40k takes place across millions of worlds with a large amount of variety in setting, races, politics, and gameplay. The writers probably thought it was so symbolic to have NCR blow up exactly 200 years after the US did, but they forgot the fact the NCR was still going strong and expanding in 2081.

The reason why they picked 2277 is most likely because the expansion into the Mojave is one of the only things really supporting the NCR and giving them hope in such tumultuous times, and 2277 is when shit started to go south with the Divide blowing up and the Legion almost winning Hoover Dam. Once faith in the campaign and important opportunities like sharecropping faltered, citizens would have become much more critical and restless against the corrupt government in Shady Sands and their ineptitude during this time with critical domestic affairs like the tumbling, newly-fiat currency or the desolation of NCR farms. When the NCR (presumably) loses in New Vegas, there was no turning the collapse around.

i remember that but imo it doesnt really make sense to me. he just doesn't seem to give a fuck about people much in general, especially outside vegas. whenever he talks about humanity, it sounds more like he means that as like an extension of himself, not the actual doughy lumps of humanity walking around his casinos.
