What the fuck are you talking about. It's all relative. BG3 did have good writing, the dialogue was snappy. Disco Elysium had insightful thoughts. It's not my favorite book Brothers Karamazov, but 99% of books arent and 100% of games never will be.
It's still better than 90% of the stuff out there. Top 10% is good enough, especially in this sad world were we are freaks and 98% of this board has zero arts education. I too lament at the dumbing down of media but I won't fault the best of the bunch. Not in a era where gacha, MMOs and GAAS are eating everything alive.

Nothing is wrong with the writing. It was shallow, good writing tends to incorporate ideas and motifs but for fluff it did an excellent job, and was witty and entertaining.
Stephen King is my favorite example. I loved him but I was never a better person for reading his books. Just more entertained.
Lately though, at the very end, he actually have books that try to say somthing. There's kernels of wisdom and ideas to debate.
Nearly identical but profoundly different all at the same time.
If your looking for some easy to read brilliant literature I recommend Exhalation. Short stories with mind blowing ideas that are just good for the soul. You are a better person after reading that book.

DE isn't without its flaws (The entire gun arc being a filler, redhead just going dipping, and some obvious cut content) but what's there is solid, amazing even. It's rare when a world is sold to you just on the merit that it's so unorthodox. The entire Joyce breakdown is some of the best world building I have seen in a game. It isn't exactly a slog and the fact you even need to have decent stats(as in Harry) to understand and not fall into despair is genius in a way. She knew you were a wreck the moment you showed up and that your partner wouldn't exactly indulge her sharing such information with you on your current state
