This is honestly a non-issue. The x-ray lamp makes a loud noise and is very obvious when it deals with it. The item itself is also fairly large and obvious. I don't see how someone would miss those things and still be standing close enough to the orb for it to be an issue.

It's not directly up against the building but there is an entrance down there. There are some underwater fans and stuff on the way, and I think the entrance has three circular holes leading into it too, with a tunnel on the left when you get in.

Some of the resources are way too rare and slow obtain even train only gives 4 or some steel cable and rebars in total. You need so many fucking rebars. I really wish there was better source of some of the materials. Otherwise the game is really fun.

I was initially dreading encountering the Leyak, because the premise sounded terrifying, but I started Cascade Laboratories last night and she is kind of cute in a pathetic sort of way.
For full immersion I only play this game by myself, after midnight, with headphones on, with nothing else playing in the background. I know the exact nanosecond the Leyak has spawned because I lock on to her asthmatic breathing. She's a minor inconvenience at best. The Leyak essence was a bigger threat: I casually pocketed some from the lab, completely ignorant of the roentgens it was giving off, and made my character terribly sick, lmao.

Guys I gotta ask, are you not wearing the full rad suits that you get in the offices before entering flat hill? What the hell are you all complaining about radiation for? I have a small box completely full of rad pills that I never have to use because I always have a suit on. I haven't even found anything to replace it with yet and I'm in the labs.

There is really no reason to take it off other than the fact that it makes you a little more thirsty which is a complete non issue even with the perk that makes you get thirst faster and the fact that it replaces your armor visuals and you can't turn it off but most of the armor sets are ugly as fuck anyway so it doesn't matter

i guess it makes you a little bit slower, but its not rally noticeable and not having to carry rad pills or vomit everywhere is much more noticeable than the speed decrease

Lasers is pretty much as intensive as it gets with base management thankfully. My workaround for it when I hit that point was to make 2 plug boards and a cable system w/ batteries before and after each plug board connection to bypass that headache

everything takes the same amount of power. Five seconds at night costs 1 energy from a battery, and nights last four and a half minutes (54 energy). The one thing that the game doesn't really mention about battery power is that most every connection, besides extensions and plug strips, counts as one extra power sucked per 5 seconds. Standard batteries can power one thing for most of the night, but will eventually fuck things up if you're trying to refrigerate or contain something, because it only has 50 of the 54 needed for the last 20 seconds of power. If you daisychain batteries back to back, the backmost battery will take the brunt of the energy being sucked, and the batteries in front will count towards how much energy is being sucked on top of everything else on the electrical grid. There's better guides out there somewhere but here's a quick example.

Well you should be able to find plenty of arcane crates (the dark wooden crates) that drop some, killing GKs often drop them, and Lab Rats will also sometime drop them.
You'll get a renewable source of arcane scraps after you're done with Reactor.

I wasn't expecting to unlock Leyak visits so early. I assumed it was going to be mid to endgame before it appeared, but it's right at the start of the labs.
It doesn't seem to be a huge issue so far, 15 minutes seems fair enough and I'm yet to see it move, it just sits there staring at me for a bit before vanishing. I can see it being a problem if you get distracted, but the game straight up tells you two ways to "kill" it if you read the entry during the first encounter. Xray weapons and just staring at it
I'm assuming it'll either bugger off completely at some point or there's a way to trap it somewhere because I can see it getting annoying if it follows you everywhere for the rest of the game with no way to shoo it off.

Yes, because the survival mechanics in this game are way easier than other survival games, especially if you know how to deal with any of them. Most non-combat skills are actually pretty useless as a level 0 person is almost as effective as someone at level 10-15 in the same skills. Usually it's only the level 20 perk in each tree that's actually kinda useful, but you won't get to 20 until the end of the game unless you grind/exploit to get it or focus on it hard.

>Food becomes a non-issue the moment you figure out at least 1 easy soup recipe. Everyone gets level 3 cooking for free at the blacksmith, so building cook is useless. Being better at killing makes farming meat to grind/live early game easier
>Water is solved by bringing water coolers back to your base, once you get the water purifier becomes a non-issue (You can also drink soda before that)
>Sleep is immediately made irrelevant by just carrying a military cot with you
>Farming skill is practically useless (Farming is actually really useful, just levels in farming help so little it's not needed)
>First aid effects are mostly minimal, just make sure to actually bring first aid items

Just don't pick Defense Analyst, as guns are actually one of the harder weapons to start using.
The easy jobs are:
lab assistant (Balanced for progressing in general because of starting points)
Transkinematic research (Bonus strength exp helps you carry stuff solo a ton. Fortitude exp isn't that great but early level 5 perk is pretty helpful for beginners)
Paratheoretical Physicist (Throwing is one of the best skills once you hit mid game and crazy good late game. Note that none of the jobs have exp bonuses to typical melee weapons so there's basically no downside to picking this job and using typical weapons early game).

Then for traits the best traits are probably Decathlon Competitor or Fanny Pack (For throwing builds). But Self Defense is very good early game if you're having trouble.

Volt staff is actually pretty solid as a weapon. It builds up charges to shoot very fast and being able to build charges on dead bodies helps a lot. The ranged attack is pretty solid.
Just note it has two major downsides:
1. It can't be thrown anymore
2. It takes another normal exor spear to repair for some weird reason, which are kind of awkward to collect.

If you aren't running a throwing build then there's little reason not to carry one as your corpse carving tool and then use the lightning as a ranged attack when needed.

You can get power cells from silent hill every reset, and one or two from some of the later portal worlds if you need more. I recommend setting up some rope vines eventually to skip the shitty indoor sections and go straight to the rooftops that have the cells on them.

The rooms beside the forklift garage in manufacturing are a good place to set up. Puts you near the blacksmith, tram back to offices, and a few extra shortcuts that open later.
The only consistent way to get more powercells is running through flathill when portal worlds reset (that's why it has so many shortcuts that stay open). There are a few extra static powercells located around manufacturing. One is inside the crate hanging above the blacksmith.

I think the armor system should not exist. Instead you should get a hazard suit with upgrade slots to modify it visually and stat-wise. And you can get better suits and better mods via crafting/drops.
I’m just salty we didn’t get the excursion suit earlier in the game :(
And each upgrade module thing for your suit can have wildly different effects but you can stack ones from same themes for greater effect like how armor sets work. Also it includes a gauntlet slot where shield or fireball glove goes, and make that stupid piece of shit glove work with any weapon set up as its own button fucking useless piece of shit

I just unlocked t3 forest but I don't think I'm getting any t3 quests there so maybe, or I missed something. Also traveling in new biomes sucks at the start as you get a debuff that I assume kills you after a time unless you drink a biome smoothie or complete challenges to get immunity for that biome.

Literally one run through the cubicle area of the office sector with all the computers in like 5 minutes will get you the materials you need to power your entire base early - mid game. Late-game and you only need to add a few more makeshift batteries, but the resources are 10x faster to gather because your weapons do way more damage.

It's extremely manageable. I would rather do this than doing shift like gathering fuel in Minecraft. Fuel is temporary, batteries are forever.
