Line weight really gives it away, in my opinion. Japanese art will use varying line weights even within the same stroke whereas Western art uses a consistent line weight, and said line weight is usually heavier than in Japanese art.

Does this finally have a release date? Demo was fun but that was like 3 years ago.

I think it's because it comes from a place of bitterness and wanting to "do better" than the Japan, while a lot of the Korean and Chinese devs who make stuff that looks like anime are just genuine otaku who are actually into anime (and not just fotm shounen) and manga and sometimes even other otaku hobbies like LNs, video games, and even h-games.
You're not gonna see many western studios hiring Japanese porn artists as their lead character designer like you see someone like mihoyo doing.
