LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE
How was I supposed to know that there is a passage behind that?

This is also impossible to figure out by yourself, you had to know someone who knew about that.

its probably bait but isn't there a busted glass tube like this a few screens prior? it plants the seed that these can be destroyed

You weren't supposed to find out. Most Japanese games hide more than half of their games from players and it's up to us to find those parts. Up until now no one did so however...

It's been a while but I think the most obvious clue is the map not displaying a solid border above and below that room.

The demo only shows that if you have save data post clearing that area.
The real reason you were supposed to figure it out was 4 hints it's breakable. First is you run through this area right after acquiring the power bombs. Second the room you fall into on your way to this tube from the powerbomb upgrade is full of enemies that always drop power bombs. Third you can see on the minimap that you can go above and below the tube somehow. The Fourth and final hint is that you walk right through a busted tube right before running through this one. You've spent probably hours running around prior to this puzzle attacking walls with beams, missiles, and bombs. Everyone would at least try powerbombing the glass once since it's the only thing you haven't done yet.

The only real old video game bad game design was Sonic 3's carnival barrel. Nothing in the game prior or after ever required you to control anything with either the up and down buttons and it is 100% possible to clear the barrel with timed jumping but stupidly difficult.

There is multiple "seeds" that are planted that make you figure out what you must do. Older games required critical thinking to progress. While current games at best have one minor secret half as obtuse as this tube is.

That was a neat dungeon. I like the ones that involve the overworld somehow and have multiple entry points rather than just being "go down staircase and come back up it twenty minutes later with a new item and a macguffin".

I really, really hated that moth boss, not just because the ground and spiked blocks were moving but because it's weakness was the fire wand, so if you lost you had to go back and grind enemies to get more mana.
Speaking of which, do you think Alttp would be more fun if you could choose which orders to do dungeons like in Megaman instead of doing them sequentially?

Going through an entire dungeon only to learn at the very end that I needed the ice rod that I somehow missed out on getting earlier in my playthrough is what made me convinced LttP was dog shit. Zelda 1 on NES fucking rocks but I have no patience for much of LttP and its awful overworld.

you have to pay the psycho tax. i think it's bullshit, because it is.

i get it that this is to be escapism, "you hate society as it is right now, and want to escape to a world where you can be free from them"...

and i get that this is what Bloodborne was going for, with Gherman saying "WE'RE FREE! FREE AS THE WIND!"

i want that moment so bad.

he also speaks in his own themesong in the undiscovered third verse.

We haven't solved Bloodborne officially yet, but we know more about Bloodborne's other half than the other souls games because the Alpha version literally WAS the other half.

I mean, we have literal proof that Gascoigne says "Umbasa" in bloodborne's other half tying it Demon's Souls, so anything is possible.

also dark souls 1
