The entire demographic shifted, even the men who used to play it are now more left-leaning than they used to be. During the late 2000s and early 2010s there was a huge upsurge in leftist culture among millennials. It was the era of Obama, legalized gay marriage, and reddit atheism (I promise I'm getting somewhere with this).

So, that demographic, millennials, became more left-leaning over time. Now if you look at people who are into Warcraft and Warcraft-adjacent things (MTG, DnD, Tabletop games), they're all leftist spaces. Don't believe me? Go check out /tg/.
