ok i admit consolefags were right. physical media is supreme. pc digital licenses were always a cancer killing vidya and are ushering in a full always online live service dystopia lead by steam. gabe is a jew and i regret signing his faggot birthday card like a good goy

Can they even do that legally? The transaction was completed. I know that stores can refuse to ship an item if you bought it when the price was lower by a mistake (not that I've ever seen a store not honor such purchase) but they cannot ask you to ship the item back for a refund.
HB set a low price by a mistake but then they sold you the item and shipped it meaning they accepted the offer. You can't just undo a transaction because you've changed your mind. It being automated is not a legal defense. HB also has the habit of selling games without a key to redeem or expired keys. They are not the same company that was selling you indies for $1 back in the day.

Either you own your games or you don't
"physical" is an entirely meaningless qualifier and they've been able to brick your shit since the wii if they don't like you.

When steam makes an incorrect pricing issue and you purchase it, they don't remove it from your account or charge you extra, they acknowledge that as their own fuck up.

Not really. A game needs a physical component to own it. This does not mean every physical game you can own.
>they've been able to brick your shit since the wii if they don't like you.
My car can be impounded if the cops don't like me. I still own it.

physical is game files on shit plastic
digital is game files on a hard drive
steam drm is deliberately shit and it takes a minute to convert your game into an offline copy
the only reason you'd want the inconvenience of physical on pc is if you're a turbo poorfag so desperate that you need to sell your games

But they're completely wrong? I give you Exhibit A: The Nintendo Switch 2. They have always online DRM digital licenses and are using "Game-Key Cards" for physical too. Nintendo is far more restrictive than Steam is and has less features too.

I'm a physicalfag, but the best option will always be DRM-free backups for long-term preservation. Of course, both are susceptible to rot, but both physical and DRM-free digital copies will outlive you with proper maintenance/storage, despite what the average /v/irgin will tell you.

>Humble Bundle Team

>Humble Bundle, Inc. is a digital storefront for video games, which grew out of its original offering of Humble Bundles, collections of games sold at a price determined by the purchaser and with a portion of the price going towards charity and the rest split between the game developers. Humble Bundle continues to offer these limited-time bundles, but have expanded to include a greater and more persistent storefront. The Humble Bundle concept was initially run by Wolfire Games in 2010, but by its second bundle, the Humble Bundle company was spun out to manage the promotion, payments, and distribution of the bundles. In October 2017, the company was acquired by Ziff Davis through its IGN Entertainment subsidiary.

it's a mental exercise
what are the benefits of physical on pc with piracy and steam cracking being so easy?
there aren't any, the ecosystem is inherently more libertarian and no one can tell you what to do unlike the console corpos that control every aspect of consoles

Of course it does. If you can't even use what you bought without getting permission from daddy Nintendo, then you don't truly own it, especially if they can revoke it at any time. Steam has the same problem, but t least with them, there are systems in place and things already built in should they ever go offline.

Anyone that yearns for the return of securom, disk based checks (oh you have the game installed? Sorry, gotta put the CD/DVD in if you want to play it lmao), disks rotting, scratches, misplacing games, your little brothers friend just taking your disk while your back is turned, etc. is a fucking moron.
