Ironically, the 5-star characters kinda suck in this game. You can't see what the enemy does because of the overblown effects, which makes timing dodges almost impossible. The simpler characters are more effective.

Genshin's problem isn't the particle vomit. It's the fact that some bosses are player-sized and you literally can't see them while you're attacking. You chose a horrible example to use(and most likely intentionally left it at 1080p resolution for a garbage bitrate to make things look worse) because despite the effects going on and the shitty quality you can still very clearly see Kenki's attacks. Now that I've reach Rinascita I have to say that people really exaggerated how bad the early part is. The library and scar part were fucking awful but other than those one it's okay. Changli's quest was very entertaining I love that one the most.

I think a good part of that comes from the anticipation and unrealistic expectations that people had on launch. Anyone starting wuwa recently have a more measured expectation since there are already many reviews and word of mouth on how the game really is by now.

Anniversary was the best time, but the 2.6 in a week has some decent banner choices. The new characters augusta and iuno form a really strong team. For the reruns, shorekeeper is a universal healer that is usable on every team and carlotta performs decently well as a glacio main dps. If you decent to pick zhezhi, carlotta's premium sub-dps, from your starter banner, that would clear you for 2 functional premium teams right from the get go.

The gacha banner has a hard pity of 80, with the soft pity beginning to ramp up at 67. The median roll count for a 5 star is 71, while the average is 55.
For a new player, you should have enough resources to hard guarantee at least 3 characters, on top of the standard banner rolls/selectors that you get.
