Have you noticed that instead of just praising a game, the way people make threads and posts lately is to create an us and them rivalry about a game and posit that "the wrong" people hate the game therefore enjoying it is being like the "in" group
This happens especially with generational shit, by making a game "zoomer anathema" you've poisoned the well and make it impossible to discuss

rage-based discussion was different before though. the only time religious wars erupted were when people legitimately actually held those opinions like snes vs genesis or n64 vs playstation. you had competing products with their own pros and cons and people naturally became fans of one or the other depending on what they prioritized. even in the early 2000s rage-based discussion centered around legitimate rage and not just bait and falseflagging and the arguments presented were the actual (perceived) merits/demerits of the games in question not just "if you don't like this game you must be a tranny/redditor/brown/member of some undesirable group".

You fix it by making no ragebait threads. However you also have to keep in mind that instead of getting 100+ replies before the thread is archived, you may only get 5 or 6 before it's archived. These same 5-6 people would have been in your other one too, but in the 100+ reply one, there are bots, shills, trolls and other wise just posting at each other in circles, which helps make your post count go up, but nothing comes out of it. The thread you made with the 5-6 people in it trims all the fat and shows you the people genuinely interested.

Over time (I'm talking years), if more people just did this, eventually the site would get better. Maybe more OC too. But since everyone thinks you need to reach bump limit to have a successful thread and ragebait is the best way to get the replies up along with feeding the trolls and shitposters, that's what you're going to keep getting. Learning to be OK with getting just a few people genuine in your thread and then letting the thread go is MUCH better than artificially "growing" it on the backs of trolls and shitters. Even if your thread is made and then goes under with no replies, that fate is better than having to deal with a thread that is basically bot and troll haven.

Not like it'll change , the site's culture slightly changes with each generation and has gone down the shitter since 2016 , hell even in 2018 it was somewhat tame and you could at least talk about something niche , now it's just a bunch of dopamine addicts and discord collaborators making the same thread over and over to get their fix , you can't even make a thread discussing a game without some dedicated schizo fucking it up for everyone for no reason and samefagging their own replies , mods don't really care either , only thing that you can do is wait for the occasional rare good thread and clock in for the day , nothing can be done about the state of this place unless someone gets paid to actually clean up the board but that'll never happen

like others said, ragebait or being horny is the only thing that gets people to come to a thread anymore. i've seen and made so many threads that are being nice get archived fast but being angry is what gets people. though ragebait threads also usually attract bots or shitposters unless your subject has a dedicated schizo.

It's not just thread making, even in threads it's bad
Especially on /vr/ with arcade games, the discussion is so poisoned it's impossible
