theyre different linux distribution types, like windows 7/10/11/8 but not upgrades, different types of the same general O/S. Arch is the same type that steam uses, including for the deck, its also usually the most updated, but can make it buggy, tho you don't always have to update immediately. This also makes it good for gaming tho.
debian is ubuntu, and mint is an off-shoot of ubuntu. Mint is more privacy oriented and user friendly than ubuntu which has a proprietary software download store that you cant see how it works known as snap packages, which the devs of mint didnt like, as linux is generally open source. Ubuntu also had controversial shit in it like a tracker from amazon, and ads in the terminal.
fedora is more commercial, and has money behind it, and bazzite is their new OS thats supposed to be THE install for linux gaming and windows migration cause its supposed to be easy, but i have heard of bugs and corrupted drivers

Like I said, ubuntu has done some shit that linux users don't like, as linux is based around privacy and open source, and ubuntus software manager where you get apps uses proprietary software people cant see and just have to trust em, they also had the amazon tracker incident and the ads in the terminal shit recently. Just best to avoid it imo.
