I would be shocked if they greenlight any more remakes after how much of a disaster FF7 has been for sales.

idk what the point was. They claimed it's for nostalgia, but the old games were portrayed like this. Nobody interpreted the sprites as deformed midges. Furthermore, if they wanted to have that style, they should have stuck with it completely, e.g. Vivi, Freya and Quina look like they belong in the setting, whereas Zidane, Garnet and every other human-like character does not.

It's cancelled mate. I used to be a believer. But it's best to accept that it's cancelled. All the "marketing" they had prior, like in Ever Crisis, FFXIV, were designed specifically to ramp up on the marketing for the game. Then they release the new merch, play arts with updated designs mind you, just rings alarm bells. Not to mention SE is going under restructuring, and are also creating their own game engine, possibly based off of Luminous. Which I would guess is for a new FF entry. There just seems to be no one available to head a remake of FFIX.

The characters sure are, but everything else is just lovely. I prefer Itahana's style rather than the original character designer's style, thank god that guy was never rehired to do character design for FF ever again.

Itahana was never the original character designer, But he was often the ones being hired to draw art of FFIX's characters post release and for merchs. I forgot the name of the person who designed them, he worked in other JRPGs before.

Probably, FFX's scale is alot smaller to remake on paper. But I think, they want to make FFX-3 first. I don't know why, it just feels like the devs mentioned it too many times about their wish to make it, just feels like it's a matter of when and whether SE will fund that project. But yeah, FFX's remake is so much more logical, it's way more popular than IX. But at the same time, just like FFVII, remaking something as precious like X is a huge gamble.

It has a classic high fantasy aesthetic which those fans favor with heavy bias in contrast to the other PSX games that did something visually different (FF7/FF8). The funny thing is, remove that aesthetic and you remove most of what was likable about 9 aside from Vivi, Beatrix, and maybe Steiner.

The main problem was Kitase's idea of wanting to plant new "mysteries" in the story because his dumb ass thinks FFVII's main attraction was the plot twist. Kitase was also the one who want the story to be rebuild from the ground up, but because some would rather the story to stick as close to the original, we ended up getting this weird clusterfuck of a story that both serves new ideas and old canon. This is what'll happen when both Producer and Director have a wildly different plan/idea for a project.

Wouldn’t surprise me it gets rebooted at some point. Og game doing well on sale and apparently those special pop up stores have been successful enough that severa items couldn’t keep up with demand. Tbf to Kitase, while his idea was dumb, the execution of it by Nomura and Nojima was equally retarded. The only good thing that came out of this remake was the modernized combat system and the realization of a more modern interpretation of FF's classic world map which has gone out of the window since X. XV was close, but half of the game got scrapped out.

PC remaster with Moguri Mod. Although, I encounter a few kinks, like the game just can't load from Disc 1 to Disc 2. Had to downgrade the mod to an earlier version for it to work. But, then, for some reason the game freezes each time I tried to enter any city/location. I had to reroll back to the latest version, and then it was smooth sailing. Haven't encountered a bug since.

Maybe make a SINGLE remake instead of dividing it into three separate fully-priced titles.

It might more pricey to make and take longer but I know for a fact that people would feel more comfortably paying once for the COMPLETE experience. Like holy shit, asking people to pay around 180/210 bucks to play through the story of a game is a hefty price tag and requires a lot of work they're just splitting across the parts.
