I think it was more mysterious. Like the occult was truly the occult but now we’re more just moving to regular magic and supernaturality. This is somewhat reflected in the base characters vs new ones

This is also reflected in the map. Seems like the world is more magical/familiar with magic than in earlier iterations.

You looked at a wall even in early beta and there would be an ad for some crazy magical product. Shit, most of the characters are some kind of magic and they're just going about their lives. Demon Detective Abrams and Gargoyle Ivy are well-liked and trusted by everyone in the cast.
