Retro handhelds.
I wonder if /v/ likes to play retro games the way we use to play back in the days. My favorite games i would like to play are mortal kombat trilogy and street fighter 3. For that i'm planning to buy the trimui brick.

What do you guys think?

I got the Retroid Pocket Classic. It's a great piece of hardware and it's fun to build your library bu I don't think it's worth the money. It just collects dust.

I got the teal one, the display is fantastic. I loved playing GBC and NGPC games on it.

For a budget option emulation handheld device its fine. I prefer the form factor of the gbasp personally.

Those are the parts you least need to be scared about. Every display comes out of Shenzen these days anyway and a lot of the reason these handhelds have blown up recently is a glut of cheap high quality screens in appropriate sizes.

Had a few over the years, just sold off my Retroid Pocket Flip and RetroFlag GPi case w/ Pi Zero 2 because they're kinda shit. Gonna keep my Miyoo A30 for everything up to PS1, and I've got an Ayaneo Slide for everything else up to my Switch games and PC games

I've got a trimui smart pro, pretty fun, although the buttons are so small and hard my fingers start to hurt after a while. Wish they made the controls bigger.

r36s controls kinda suck. if you are gonnna play megaman style games, metroidvanias, any sort of action game I'd avoid. I have it and the r35s. Much happier with the trimui smart pro and brick. brick feels nice but i hate how it heats up on the back. since the aluminum heatsink is over the triggers.

All the XX handhelds use the same chip, which can do up to PSX and some N64/DC/PSP games. No PS2/GC.
Anonymous No.718569034 [Report]
I got the Retroid Flip 2, I'm a little underwhelmed but it does what I need (PS2/GC).

If you want a chinkheld
https://shop.magicx.team/products/magicx-zero-40
You're probably better off just buying a dsi
Anonymous No.718570281 [Report]
>>718567428
No. If you're looking to play most PS2/GC at 100% speed, you're looking at spending $200-250 depending on sales and your standards for your definition of "play".
Like, my $150-ish (on sale) 406H can play "enough" PS2/GC games, but some need me to go to performance mode and a bunch straight-up don't work. Depends on settings though, I guess.
>>718569616
...Retroid Pocket.
I mean it, if you're looking for solid, nearly-complete libraries of GC/PS2, you're not spending less than $200 unless you buy something used off Ebay or catch a deep discount on Aliexpress or something.

>>718568915
Honestly, a real DS, though it depends on what KIND of DS games you want to play on there. Touchscreen-heavy games feel like ass to play on anything that isn't the real thing, but games where one screen's basically just a map or shortcuts or something, you could play DS on all kinds of systems and not struggle with it too bad.

Any of the following Retroid Pocket consoles would be a good for playing PS2/GC.
>RP 5
>RP Mini v2
>RP Flip 2
>RP 4 Pro
The quick answer is to just get the 5 but the others are worth considering too.

I've been using my Analogue Pocket pretty much daily since I got it a year or so ago.
I read a lot of hate for the system online, what are people's issues with it?

>RP 5
>RP Mini v2
>RP Flip 2
They have the same CPU so it runs the same. It's a Snapdragon 865. Good for most games. Certain games have problems running but part of that is the fact that PS2 Android emulation development is stalled. Guy doing AetherSX2 is a massive faggot, and the project stalled when he left because it was closed-sourced. New emulators are in development but haven't released yet.
>RP 4 Pro
Same as the above. It's chipset is close to the power of the above, but it's not snapdragon so there are some stuff it can't do well, mainly emulating bigger stuff due to SD exclusive drivers or run linux.
One thing to make note of is the fact that the speakers are on the bottom facing down. Never liked that design.
