We're talking about PS3 compared to PS5, so I'd hope so. It's nice as well because the remaster is also releasing on Xbox, Switch, and PC. I believe the original was a PS3 exclusive, so having it launch on Xbox day one is really nice.

Directors cut is a lot of fun and got translated a year or 2 back, it does suffer from that pretty standard tales of problem where half the characters play like arse though, thankfully they stopped trying to make contextual melee/ranged characters exist, but maybe in 10 years time when the next tales game comes out they will know how to make it work.

That being said, the PS3 version of Symphonia was based on the PS2 version and it caps the framerate to 30, whereas the original GC release ran at 60.

To some people I suppose? I personally loved Xillia 1 and Xillia 2 was just an upgrade all around. I never hated the first game though, but I do think the second game improved on everything and just made it even more fun. The first game was already pretty fun. They really had a groove going when making the Xillia series and I think even the fanbase noticed it as well. Xillia was probably the last popular Tales Of game that released or was widely popular.

When Gungrave G.O.R.E. came to the Switch, it had its smoking censored, and that's a Korean game. Kanon's western Switch release was also censored with "crude language and harsh jokes" targeted among other things. The Suikoden remasters had smoking references removed as well. That one was multiplat, but Gungrave and Kanon were Nintendo-specific.

I'm glad I played the original Destiny though, while Director's cut is mostly an upgrade (certainly in the gameplay) some scene are more emotional and simply better in the original. Hugo's death and the end sequence when Miktran is defeated come to mind. Making the end a fade to black actually is kind of criminal. And dont get me started on Leon's character changes. Do what you gotta do but the Destiny 2 character arc hits way harder when he's canonically a little bitch in life instead of the tragic hero.

It will release on steam anyways, which means that even if the amount of money the market would put towards this game was equal in both cases the developer will receive six times as much because nobody is buying a console to play it. It also cost virtually nothing to remaster.
On their balance sheet they will not see anything other than 500x the profit compared to when the game first released, regardless of how shit they make it, and then they will attribute that gain to having made it shit.
