Collectathons like DK64 get better on repeat playthroughs, learning how to route and knowing what you want to do/ can do at any given situation is the whole point of the genre.
DK64 isn't perfect of a game like Banjo Kazooie or Spyro was, but for me as a kid it was kino. It taught me that a game is a lot more than snappy controls in an abstract 3d environment. It has charm and atmosphere and some of the greatest tunes I've ever heard in a game even to this day.
Play this game in the early morning with some coffee on your CRT while sitting on the floor and soak in the environments and the colors and the amount of detail the game has while completing objectives anon. So called "Comfy" indie games wish they could reach the level of comfy that Dk64 achieves.
