You obviously didn't read it, which is a shame because it's still pretty much intelligible if you're fluent in Italian.
The plot is nothing groundbreaking but the real charm is Dante's creativity in coming up with otherworldly landscapes and cruel punishments, as well as his meeting historical and fictional characters, plus the occasional funny part where, for example, some demons fart at each other or Dante starts talking shit against some city that was at war with Florence at the time.
If you want funny stories in Vulgar, you should check out the Decameron. That shit has plenty of funny tales even though most people only know the one about the cook stealing a chicken leg from his lord's kitchen.
