Don't listen to the OP

Most CS accounts are chinese bot accounts. They don't exist as actual players, they are created to farm cases

The price for these knives is true however.
But just like with NFTs and cardboard like Pokemon the liquidity in the market is near zero

Also fun fact: I used to get games on CS:GO with people from my own country almost every game.

Now in CS2 I always get russian/polish/eatern EU players and encountering people from my own region happens a lot less often now.

The game you loved is dead and completely taken over by bots

what he means is that its a fad
the price is entirely dependent on what someone actually would pay for it, 1$ or 10.000$
a new game like cs could release tomorrow and if it would be more popular (not even better), the prices of everything would tank
its not an "investment", its sheer stupidity because at the end of the day its pixels

Fact is, they don't
The retards holding these knives want you to believe they are worth $6000, because they want to get rid of them
So they will set them at that price, get their friends to buy them (and compensate them of course) and hope with all their might that some retard journalist makes a headline like "CSGO knife sells for $6000" to hopefully delude a naive enough chink into thinking its a worthwhile investment

My guess is those people didn't grew up with cs1.6 when you could mod any weapon model for yourself. To me going from this to payed skins is clear downgrade and I would never pay for a skin in my life. Clearly those people didn't grew up modding their games before payed cosmetics even became a thing.

newer crates are in the active pool and drop weekly for players. you have a 1% chance of getting an older crate no longer in the pool but they are effectively out of rotation

buying the oldest crate in active rotation and then sitting on it until it leaves basically a guaranteed 2x money or more depending on how many years you want to wait

Yeah you level up and get to pick two items out of a little selection of shit $0.03 skins and stickers but one of them is always a crate
>if I can make some Steam bux by doing a quick Gun Game once a week I should start doing that
Levelling up takes multiple hours it's not quick by any means. If you don't actually enjoy playing CS it's not worth it unless a new crate has just dropped and they're going for like $8

I really don't
Both are dropped for free every few hours of gameplay, both are inherently worthless without a corresponding key that can be used to gamble.
If you mean the general price difference between TF2 and CSGO, where in CS something is considered expensive if it goes for thousands while in TF2 expensive stuff goes for hundreds, that's true - but the price difference in crates is more than that, crates in TF2 are regularly just deleted from inventories because they're so worthless, while cases in CS seem to often go for more than their keys.
Anonymous No.718578308
Aren’t speculative markets based on selling to people who hope they bought it at a dip so they can sell it for even more to the next sucker who in turn etc etc.
That’s how worthless things like tf2 hats, csgo knives and stocks in companies make so much money

>Both are dropped for free every few hours of gameplay
One of these is dropped once a week, the other is actually dropped every few hours.
It's just basic supply and demand, csgo cases used to be dirt cheap before they updated the drops system.
Some cases also get taken out of the rotation or get pushed into the rare drops pool, which once again raises the price.
Anonymous No.718579458
>>718569054 (OP)
You dont buy a weapon skin, you trade a weapon skin
By doing that you can get a higher value weapon skins. And weapon skin is literally your chips and profit at the same time, they werent meant to be enjoyed or being keep for so long in your inventory, they were meant to be traded, gambled, or being sold in market for crates. Do otherwise and you play the game wrong

Hasn't helped TF2 crates that have been out of the drop system for a decade, but I guess if they're just that much more abundant it matters less.

Well yeah, TF2 has always had and probably still has a problem with people idling and botting for drops, with CS they at least triend nipping the problem right in the bud with some success, so there isn't a major abundance of the cases.
Also people usually bought the more desirable cases en masse and in large quantities in the hopes of getting something extremely specific, like a certain pattern index case hardened ak in stattrak and factory new chance to get this is like 0.00000001% or something stupid like that, but people still keep trying for it even now that the cases themselves cost around 120€ with the first weapon case, I don't think that is the case with TF2 cases as much.

CS2 has multiple layers of rarity
You wan an specific item, well too bad because
>you need to get the box that item comes in
>items have different drop chances, the rare ones, like gloves and knifes have a bellow 1% chance to be acquired
>not only that but there are also multiple models and skins for said items
>not only that but said items also have multiple ware values as well, so the same exact item can have it's price vary greatly.

People also inflate the values of the items artificially.
