WoW is the ultimate example of what happens when you forsake your target audience. They censored everything and made it woke as fuck to appeal to a new non existent audience, and they added tons of furfaggotry(and scalefaggotry) to grow their furry appeal to appeal to that audience too. They assumed the old nerds would be mazed forever so they could do whatever they wanted.

WoW is most likely the most woke video game on the market, it's gotten that bad. What was once the bastion of nerd culture is dead, overtaken and subverted. It almost feels purposeful, where the goal was to take over THE chud game and ruin it out of spite.

I seem to have a high tolerance for bullshit and kept playing this garbage even though I disliked the story and art direction since Cataclysm and hated it since WoD. I'd unsub for months or even years at a time and yet kept coming back for at least one season every expansion, like a crack whore crawling back to her pimp.
Yet now I seem to have broken free and it's not the abysmal storytelling that did me in, but the game feeling plain garbage to play mechanically. I've tried every class and every spec in TWW and all of them either feel like dogshit, perform like dogshit or are actively, physically painful to play. I play Fury and it feels like shit ever since they removed Annihilator. I play Ret and there is not a trace of the class that was peak fun in MoP. I play Fire and there has never been a bigger disconnect of top-notch aesthetic with absolutely terrible, awful, overcomplicated gameplay that completely falls apart should you mess up your Combustion just once. I play Shadow and I wish I didn't, no matter what they do it always feels a cut-down version of Legion iteration.
I think I might actually be free now because even the thought of playing makes my hands ache. God I hope it sticks.

It's one thing for the story and dialogue to be the blandest most brainless uninteresting slop possible, that's been true for years....but the actual cinematic here just looks bad and is clearly VERY CHEAP.

They're using rotoscoped human models and importing their faces to automate modeling instead of creating or controlling the graphical assets, it's automated and basically just a filter system instead of actually animating and even then...there's barely any dynamic movement with lots of shots to obscure this fact. The movement looks awful for the 2 seconds it exists too...the second it's time for actual physics to be calculated it falls flat. I'm actually shocked, I didn't think things could get this bad as Blizzard at least had a great graphics setup for this kind of shit since the start.

Blizzard is actually dead, the art team isn't even carrying anymore.

The guys that show up aren't Alliance. They're from an Arathi Empire colony that got cut off at some point before the EK Arathi dissolved. They're all human-High Elf mutts. That colony eventually sent out its own colonists to chase a prophecy the Light gave to their emperor, and the entire fleet got abducted by the Light to settle around a giant Light crystal under the island The War Within took place on. The Horde paladin NPCs spend the entire expansion hanging out around the Arathi church discussing theology. Presumably, the giant Light crystal that teleported boats thousands of feet underground can also teleport an army of Light-worshipers to the Sunwell if the Light feels like it. That's as good as the explanation is going to get.

Not the guy you are arguing with, but Genshin is not an MMO, which makes Genshin is the better game. It doesn't pretend to be multiplayer like WoW does. It is a single player RPG with multiplayer elements you can choose to engage in. WoW has lost all need to engage with other players, even when queueing for dungeons and raids. It is effectively single player. Both time gate the relevant content (lockouts vs resin/energy), but one has a better schedule of release for new content. I am strongly opposed to the idea that people have a 'forever game' that they only play, but I'd choose Genshin over current WoW.

Trying to force people into engagement with FOMO is a losing battle; you need to basically fight perfectly against all the other forces of life, the gaming industry, boredom, and whatever the fuck else is going on - the player only has to get annoyed, time crunched etc.. enough to take a break once and now they're out. You can't force "participation" and you can't force them to stay to participate with FOMO en masse - people who are there having fun are going to participate. Its better to take note of stuff that people missed and bring it back - that WILL encourage people to return. With WoW alone, I remember watching that they got so many people come back because of the 20th anniversary and because of that smartly are going to enable those Tier 2 raid armor patterns the next time anniversary comes around. Same thing with Pandaria Remix getting people to come back and so they're doing it again with Legion remix; they need to bring Pandaria back too or merge all of the Remix content into live permanently if they won't, but its better they just cycle the Remix events. Plunderstorm was a great example - they ran it twice, people came back, fucked around, and if they missed stuff in the first go round got it in the 2nd, plus all the new/recolor stuff. They should learn from this example and not fuck it up.
