I feel like marketing is the problem because the last 2 newer bubsy games weren't really marketed well they just released. Maybe because I don't watch tv anymore so maybe they did have tv ads but they need youtube ads and those ads you see on the side of a website. If they do that then it should sell pretty well.

That self-aware bullshit is killing Sonic. There was nothing wrong with the plots of SA1 to Sonic 2006. The gameplay was the issue, not the plots. Idiots who think a cartoony design has to play the part of being silly and wacky really should watch more classic Disney pieces, you can have cartoon designs but still have heavier moments inbetween.

Alternatively, playing things straight also helps with giving your franchise integrity.

As a Sonic fan who goes as far as to collect toys, it's Sonic. Bubsy was at least put out of his misery for a time and his small fanbase accepts that he sucks. Us Sonic fans are in constant denial, have to watch Sonic continue to get worse by sucking the cocks of people that never have and never will like him for over a decade now, and how many crossovers need to carry Sonic in Crossworlds instead of just going all out with Sonic's extended cast is embarrasing. Sega has never known wtf to do with Sonic as a franchise. Bubsy and Sonic I would say are both very similar franchises, since they both began life as "lets make a character to compete with currently popular character" and thats why their first games even exist at all.

I had Claws Encounters as a kid, and while it was absolute horse shit and unbeatable for a 7 year old, the music and the art made me wish the gameplay matched it.
