MK9 just had a newness about it, and many thought it was a "return to roots" (it wasn't really), they remade the first 3 games and told the story through the cinematic character chapters format established by MK vs DC. It had mass appeal but it was indeed, post Armaggedon for the franchise. The story was entertaining, no doubt, I'm not going to say that was pure shit, the game had great stages, great music, and a pretty decent fighting system (that if I remember right and what I heard was true, was worked on by people in the fgc which can't be said for prior games). They've now rebooted the series like 4 times in the span of 4 games, the character chapters massively limit the scope of the stories and how they can be told, and it often doesn't even really feel like MK anymore, it feels like a homosexual parody of MK, it feels like gay fanfiction.
Say what you want about it's relatively less advanced fighting system but MK Deception is the peak of the franchise. All they do now is try to redo MK9 and it's obvious to everyone that they are bankrupt. They also have whole new fanbases centered around particular games that these groups think should be the model of what MK is and they are running into a problem of not being able to please everyone. They need to stop doing that. They need to stop doing the old vain hype thing too.
