I was going to get a PS5 to replace my ps4 and finally be able to watch my 4k discs but then I found out the PS5 doesn't have Dolby vision. Bizarrely Sony who owns blu ray(and 4k bluray) doesn't sell a 4k player with dolby vision that doesn't freeze after 2 hours. So I had to get a panasonic 4k player

I personally never adopted Bluray and just went straight for high-quality encodes, but I embraced piracy. You can use filters with them to make them look better, some upscale them. Though, there doesn't seem to be any serious attempt to upscale anything outside of anime, like animejanai or anime4k filters. Only Nvidia seemed to give a shit, but locked their upscaling behind their RTX gpus.

And even then upgrading to a new system is usually not worth it in the first year or 2 so id add up this to like 8 years.

PC gaming is only expensive if you care about higher than 1080p resolution and high end settings in the newest games. If you're willing to compromise on one of those it's instantly a lot cheaper.

Even at 1080p a 1000$ PC could run most games at max setting + ray tracing at 60 fps.
You pay bore for stuff like 120+ fps and 2K or 4K.
Personally i can barely notice the difference between 1080p and 2K on my display in some games but i do notice 120 fps.
So i will often lower some games to 1080p to keep my 120 fps.

I very much doubt the ps6 will be any more powerful then the 9060 xt. Improvements in circuitry have been paralyzed for thd past few years we've only seem optimizations. AMD might, MIGHT make something happen with their CPU's soon but that's just a rumor. That's part of why everyone is looking to Ai to see Improvements in game performance.

We already have confirmation that both Microsoft and Sony made deals with AMD to make their next consoles and that they will be using FSR4. Both will likely be using custom 9060s
