it feels like they're as dead as ever now, especially with gaming being dead in japan

its over people cant dodge bullets and refuse to play such games, damn scrubs killed the genre glory to the CCP

I think touhou was doing fine until UM but I didn't bother to check UDoALG at all and I don't think it got much talk either.
For a game to become famous you need people talking about it, be it through memes, soundtrack remixes or zoomer videos talking about power up tierlists etc etc etc

The newest 2hu literally just got the highest concurrent player count of any shmup ever released on Steam by far. And in terms of game releases and announcements, maybe bullet hells in particular have gone down idk, but shmups in general have seen an insane increase in output these last few years.
