Because appealing character designs is the only way they can sell the gacha model. If there wasn't something pleasing to look at the entire house of cards would fall apart

It's hilarious how these people don't understand why good games typically don't have characters running around in swimsuits or lingerie. They have no concept of how reality works.

Because you bought western slop and shit in the mid 2000's and choke holded the japanese game industry from successful growth with their attractive characters and game design, and now have to deal with less than favorable marketing strategies because they need to make money.

This. Look at how Konami pivoted towards literal gambling machines (pachinko is gambling, fuck off jap loopholers) and used their IP to make their machines vastly more appealing
without the dopamine of pulling a hot ass barely-clothed bitch, gacha games have no carrot on the stick. no one would play genshit if it was all ugly troons and browns

You can have a good game with the characters running around in swimsuits and lingerie. The key part is the gameplay has to be good. Gacha don't have good gameplay, so they are forced to use tantalizing characters to even hold peoples attention

And before you ask, yes I'm trans. I don't want to see CIS CUNTS running g around in swimsuits because it makes my dysphoria worse! If you have a problem with that then LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!

You never know true heartbreak until a sequel of your favorite game turns out to be a gacha that will hold the series hostage forever because the devs do not want to take any risks anymore and will milk the gacha forever. Even more heartbreaking when the director of the company said they all had those ideas for future games but they never talked about it anymore after they tasted the gacha money.
I hardly ever see an actually appealing character design even from gacha now, it's all the same bog standard shit you always see in erotic art, nothing more. I miss the times when anime girls had an edge to them.

Early on, Fate devs had very solid videogame concepts like RPGs and hero shooters before ultimately just deciding to milk the gacha model ad infinitum, that and releasing a new Melty Blood revision once every 10 years

With Project Moon they had plans for a game based on a comic of the series, and a city builder, but the director of the company is autistic and does not want to have more than 50 people in his company, and since the gacha takes work from all of them they are all too busy to do anything else. Apparently he thinks the company as his family and having too much people would make him see them as a numbers and not as people lol.

Because gacha inherently lack in the game department? The only thing they can use to draw people in is character design. Which is also how they get people to spend money for pngs.
Consequentially they are bad as games.

Genshin Impact was alright for the first few hours, but it just got really repetitive. Then I realized the whole game was just about buying anime skins I just lost interest

none of the g*cha games have appealing/interesting character designs.
if i want big tiddy ara ara ladies there's always rule34, and then I go back to playing good games (like Noita)

Is not that Otaku like gacha, is that Asians are more prone to gambling, with the advancement of the iPhone and anime sluts crushing in the 00s was just a recipe for disaster in the making.
Then the 2010 with FGO and alikes and destroyed traditional otaku culture, only now is slowly recovering.
Barebones ps2 hack n slash combat kills my interest. Gow2 is the basic fucking standard. The fact soul shit has been the industry standard for TEN years makes me violently sick and pissed

Enka was a high point. Fontaine was really bad. I think they're returning to form now/pulling senior devs back
>>718594593
I would argue you owe it to yourself to play it more. You're saying it was repetitive without having unlocked any of the mechanics...team building and getting characters is part of it though, can't deny that

I just want Arknights designs and art direction in an actual game
It goes for something like a fantasy sci-fi military thing so the characters aren't skimpy over all, though there's summer skins if you want to nitpick
